Leave it up to a band like The Transits to pull off a song about love and make it edgy, heavy, but also insanely catchy at the same time. Their most recent release does all of this, but they also bring these almost dangerous elements into the mix. When I say that, I mean they take the sentiment of someone melting your heart and turn it into something that's got an almost science fiction backdrop in a way.
The single is called "Come Melt My Heart" and it hits a driving and slightly fuzztone pop-punk and alternative rock approach which is not new for the band of course, but this song is different.
These guys always release music that hits in particular ways. They almost always put elements of humor into their music by way of either their videos or metaphoric lyrics that aren't too over the top, so you know exactly what they mean.
They also blend these classic heavier Hard Rock elements into their music. You always have this slightly grungy, 90s underground alternative rock soundscape that they hit, and they do it here as well, but there's also a punk element to their music, and they almost always blend that colorful and heavy edge, so you have something that leaves an impact.
This track does all of that, but it also has dare I say it, heart. It's got this wonderful heart to it that you know came from someplace authentic and that's part of what drives this song.
Lines like "radiate my soul" and "electric cars pulsing through the night" give perfect examples of what I mean by bringing in these sorts of sci-fi elements to the lyrics.
The song gets descriptive and lets your imagination run with that, but it also has this closed-fisted but emotional backdrop because it is a love song to me.
It hits like a love song does, but it's got this cinematic feel to it as well because it's so spirited and this is another thing that The Transits can always pull off.
A lot of times when they want to, they're able to put together and release this incredibly spirited song so it's not only the fact that it's heavy or a little bit thrashy, or Punk or pop, or alternative rock, it's really their energy and spirit that grabs at you.
The spirit of their performance and the drive of their music sometimes be so uplifting. This song does that for me. It makes me feel incredibly uplifted.
As usual, the base tones are spot-on for that sort of aggressive punk style, the guitars bounce off of each other left and right, panned and having a great time, and the vocals deliver a hook that hits about three or four times in the song but by the time it's over that hook doesn't go anywhere. It stays with you instead.
That's another thing these guys are great at doing. They can create songs that have that edginess but also have those hooks so you can find yourself singing along with a lot of their music by the second time around.
With "Come Melt My Heart", you'll be singing it by the last few choruses because it's that good and that addictive.
It's bouncy, and fun, it has that colorful energy but also that slightly aggressive tonality, so it all brings in some of the best elements of not only different genres but different approaches.
You can also hear some classic, old-school pop-punk influences in this one and I like that because with different tracks that The Transits release, you're able to hear different influences a lot of the time.
They know where to put a good chorus, and how to stick to their guns in terms of not straying too far from the formula and the kinds of music that influence and inspire them.
This was obviously quite a banger of a single but that's what these guys put out.
In case you've missed some of our last reviews on their songs, I would most certainly go back and check out a bunch of their other stuff because it's all insane.
These guys always release a single and a video for Halloween and they're always amazing, smart, funny, and have elements of throwback that come off nostalgic.
This reminds me, that the accompanying video for "Come Melt My Heart" also feels slightly 90s but they do it in a different way this time. They bring in visuals that also edge towards that alternative and sort of post-apocalyptic sci-fi style by bringing in 1950s film clips, and different kinds of imagery, and putting it all together in a way that feels pulsing and a little bit invasive.
These guys definitely put a huge amount of detail into their music videos, and this is a great example of exactly that but again, go listen to some of their previous stuff and just go straight to their YouTube and watch some of their videos because you'll get your mind blown.
So, check this out, listen to it nice and loud but then, go check out the rest of their catalog. This is a band you can easily and quickly fall in love with especially if you like one single track. They have a lot of videos to watch and a lot of music to listen to and you don't have anything better to do.
We're all looking for great new music and bands and if you haven't heard of The Transits yet, now you have. No excuses.
Just don't forget where you heard it first.
