The Soulful Heavy Rock of Sill Crow

A new single release from Sill Crow delivers an outstanding crossover sort of rock-backed approach that brings together these southern tone elements and a classic hard rock feel and those two things bring on a vivacious and colorful but still edgy tone that boasts loads of soul and in turn delivers personality along with it and that is something I feel like you get attached to pretty quick.

"New Way" is a massive track, and it really has a unique way of growing and sort of building an intensity because it comes along with lyrics that are understandable because they come from a very honest place and at certain points you can really relate to it.

As the song unfolds so do its levels of intensity both vocally and musically as things kind of explode into anthemic style chorus and that hook is super memorable and has a way of sticking with you for hours after the song is ended.

One of the things I love about this track is the guitar work because it's absolutely outstanding all throughout. You can hear different influences of 90s radio rock, southern rock, heartland rock, indie rock, and again, this classic sort of heavier hard rock approach all blended into one fat track and that is part of what gives it so much onic presence and drive.

There are plenty of surprises around the corners and some really inventive vocal work along with the arrangement of the track which really has a different kind of approach but works perfectly for this song.

The soul comes in not only with the guitar work but also with the vocals. The vocal approach does have this sort of swagger to them and it comes off in a soulful way because he's got such a great vibrato, there's a lot of awesome harmony parts during that bridge, and again, there's some unexpected sections in there but all of this actually adds to the character and personality that the track delivers in the first place and that might be the most important aspect of it all.

It kind of blew me away by the end of the track because at a certain point things just get so big and massive in terms of that heavy rock guitar tone that it's overtaking and I really enjoy that because the vocals match the energy level of the rest of the band which is super important for a song like this.

The energy of the whole track is actually very big. I feel like certain elements of this track like maybe the base of it was recorded live on the floor to an extent and everyone involved was feeding off of each other the entire time and maybe that's what gave it such an alive and breathing kind of feel.

These guys have a real knack for creating a solid punch tonally and it's heavy handed because it comes through with that edgy rock style, but you also have a bit of blues and again, that southern undertone that are hinted throughout the song, so you have that element flowing throughout its veins as well.

This was really an addictive song and it clearly comes from a band who has a real love for their craft. When I say that I don't just mean playing their instruments or singing, I mean writing songs together that have an impact.

I can't help but get attached to a band that releases music that has that heavy tone and feel, that massive rock approach, but also boasts this much soul as well.

The track is also very radio friendly and again, has these courses and sections that stick with you for a long time so they clearly know what they're doing in terms of writing a song that comes through as a real banger. A single that can be on the radio.

I feel like this track speaks volumes for the band however, I did take a little bit of a deep dive through their back catalog and there's a lot of awesome releases these guys have under their belt including one that's even newer than this track which is a live record.

These guys don't seem to really stop and I suggest you listen to a lot of their stuff including this live record especially if you dig this track which I'm sure you will.

As I mentioned earlier, they do have an amazing sort of energy that makes it feel like it's a live performance so when you listen to the actual live record it's twice as intense.

Take a deep dive into Sill Crow when you get a chance because if you really love soulful heavy blues rock music, then these guys will not let you down whatsoever.

Remember where you heard it first.
