If you're not yet too familiar with the musical stylings of Marla Mase, then let us be among the first to introduce you as she has a lot of releases under her belt that really hit in very particular ways including one released recently called "Dance Together" which is a track that embodies this spirited approach in the form of a pop -coated dance rock style single that comes through with an expansive undertone and a very feel-good vibe.
One of the things I love about this track is how it absolutely Blends not only genres, but it also takes old-school and new school approaches and brings those together to create a sort of atmosphere that you don't want to leave once you're in.
The percussion is outstanding on this track as it helps everything not only have drive but also come through with a lush and sort of full-bodied soundscape and this also helps the song come through with a vibrancy and energy that is very addicting honestly.
This is one of my favorite aspects of the song in general. That energy level is completely electric and that's part of what makes this song Thrive.
The sort of vintage pop undertone comes through in some of the sounds with the guitar tones, and of course those vocals as well because everything has a little bit of bubbliness to it, and this helps the song come through sort of bouncy and refreshing.
It is indeed a colorful track, and you most certainly won't be able to help but start moving your body to it.
If you're driving in the car, you might start shaking your butt and your seat, but if you're at home, you'll probably want to just move the couch back a little bit so you can dance around the living room because this track does have a spirited and free approach.
When I say that, what I mean is that it is a freeing aesthetic. This is a track that is built to express, and she does express herself loudly with this one but it's a positive one that you really get attached to and it becomes something that you want more of.
It's a nearly perfect blend of color and a little bit of edginess that makes the song really work the way it does. The guitar progressions are great but the way they're performed is really what grabs you.
There's a certain liveliness in these guitars and their tonalities that really help the song have a natural and forward-moving flow.
To a point, it almost feels like this track was recorded live, so anyone involved was sort of feeding off of each other's energies the entire time and this gives a very particular aesthetic as well.
This is kind of like a pop-rock single. Her vocal approach here is a big part of its brightness and I feel like she expresses herself well but also delivers this presence as an artist that gets you pulled in.
This is a track that has personality and character which is something you don't get often these days so when it does come across, it's quite refreshing. Now, Marla is someone who's got her fingers in many pots as she is not only a musical artist but also a writer and actor amongst other things.
Listening to this song alone gives you the sense that those elements and all that she's soaked in over the years really let her be able to perform and write songs that are memorable and, fun, danceable, and have some meaning to it.
It's great music but it's got layers to it as well and that's something that everyone looks for in certain kinds of artists I would think.
After listening to this track, I had to backtrack to some of her previous releases on Spotify and I'm certainly glad that happened because she has a lot of stuff under her belt starting with an album in 2010.
Aside from this single, there's another one that she has released recently called "All Fall Short" and this is certainly a wild and almost rambunctious style track that shows a little bit of a different side to her artistry and her personality as well.
You can tell she's kind of a free spirit and an old soul through her music and I love being able to pick up on that kind of thing when I listen to an artist.
However, there are also full-length albums, EPs, and other singles released that you can really dive into and have a lot of fun with.
Marla Mase is an artist that you can have a lot of fun listening through her releases and following her evolution as a songwriter.
This is certainly something that I would suggest if you had the time. It will certainly not be wasted.
Either way check out the single of course and remember where you heard it first.
