The Music Matters Presents Two Nights of Live Indie Rock at Our Wicked Lady + CBGB-Style Audition Showcase

The Music Matters, a platform originally launched in 2017 to spotlight favorite indie acts, has grown into a major advocate for New York’s underground music scene. This spring, they return with a two-night live music event at Brooklyn’s Our Wicked Lady, featuring some of the most electric local acts in NYC—plus a bonus CBGB-style audition showcase on the afternoon of May 3rd.

Showcase Dates:May 2 & May 3 at Our Wicked Lady (153 Morgan Ave, Brooklyn, NY)Doors: 7:00 PMTickets: Available at the door or via venue website

Note: The audition showcase is free if you arrive before 2:30 with a ticket from Dice. Here is the link to tickets from Dice.

On the evenings of May 2 and 3, audiences can expect a stacked lineup of bands representing the diversity and energy of Brooklyn’s indie music scene, curated by The Music Matters founder, Marc Seligman.

On May 3 at 2:00 PM, the action starts early with a special CBGB-style audition showcase, featuring five emerging artists. This early set provides a raw, energetic window into the next wave of local talent.

Throughout the weekend, fans will have a chance to share their stories, reactions, and memories in a pop-up “confessional booth”—a video installation that will be featured in an upcoming full-length documentary. That documentary, expected to arrive on DVD this fall, will stitch together live performances and interviews to offer an intimate portrait of the music and community that keep New York’s indie scene alive.

The project follows last year’s successful three-night run at Arlene’s Grocery, where 14 bands were captured on tape for a nostalgic VHS release. With each new chapter, The Music Matters continues to shine a spotlight on the lifeblood of the city: its music and the people who make it.

Join us, be part of the story, and discover the sounds that make New York matter.
