A fresh new single release from The Almas comes through with a diverse set of heavy rock tones all rolled up into one track and as it unfolds you get elements of heavy-handed alternative rock, indie rock, pop rock, and even a dance rock vibe at times.
"Life Jacket" combines a robust and edgy guitar tone with powerful female vocals that belt when they need to but also bring out a lot of soul and the balance between the edginess and heaviness of the guitars and the music along with that Soulful vocal approach end up feeling lush and robust.
Between the verses, the pre-choruses, and choruses themselves, you're getting these different rock approaches and it's a brilliant way to write a song because it gives you a great range of influences that this band pulls from.
I love having a track that has that edginess to it but also has the color and character at the same time. That blend of a hard-hitting and powerful rock with all that colorful overtone and soul all breeds attract that comes through unique but still somewhat familiar and very catchy at the same time.
Guitar work is awesome through this entire track of course and that energy is Unstoppable. This is one of those bands that you listen to on record and immediately know that they are going to be intense to see as a live band.
That is also kind of rare. Listening to a band on record and just knowing that their live performance will crush it.
But you can hear that with the single. They have an energy that feels alive, and you get sucked into that.
I also have to admit that I dig a track that packs as many punches as this one does but is also not afraid to have that pop overcoat, so things come out bright and spirited.
That's also a brilliant combination if you ask me. The brightness and the edginess together. The chorus of this track feels quite anthemic and they roll with that so that sort of arena rock approaches there as well.
When you listen to the track you can tell that they have a real love for what they're doing and that this is a complete passion project. I know that they rock the stage with as much energy and power as this track portrays on the recording itself and this song ends up being a fists-in-the-air sing-along Style heavy rock banger that is completely unforgettable after the first time you've heard it.
When you check this track out, listen to it loud. Do not be afraid to turn it up because that's what it was meant for.
I guarantee you'll find yourself singing along with this track by the second or third time you listen to it because it's got that addictive feel and will certainly end up bouncing around in your head for quite a long time after it's ended.
The Almas have been making quite a name for themselves since their debut release in 2019 and from there, it only got better with a full-length album in 2021 followed by another handful of singles leading up to "Life Jacket".
