Tamar Berk returns with a brand new music video for an amazing single that speaks volumes for the artist and how she lets her personality ooze out of every aspect of her music because the track itself gives you a lot of insight into not only her character has a person, but it lets a lot of her inner thoughts out throughout that process.
The video is for a single called "That's Not a Lie" which is actually a track off of her full length Good Times for a Change album and we're no strangers to Tamar or to that album so I can tell you right now that this video does an amazing job of expressing her process and laying out the premise of what the track is actually about.
One of the things that really hits with this song and the video is that honesty in the lyrics. She just lets it all out and holds nothing back and I feel like the whole record actually does that so the way the video is portrayed shows you the different aspects of how she visually expresses those thoughts.
First of all, this song has a great pop rock backbone and it's very driving with this immense sonic presence especially in the guitar tone.
It does have an amazing balance of edginess and that personality and color, and the music video shows those things as well.
One of the great things about this track is that although it does have that heavy pop rock element to it, most of that hits during those big choruses. A lot of the rest of the song has a great bop to it and reminds you of certain classic rock style tracks as well.
As the music video and song unfold, you get a glimpse of how she does her thing musically as well as it shows her playing not only the guitar, but the bass, and singing the track so now you get a bigger understanding of how she's a multi-instrumentalist and likely had some of these songs visualize in her head before she went and tracked them herself.
This is something I didn't realize before now. But, watching the video shows her playing the bass, playing that guitar, and standing in front of the mic still expressing all the thought, emotion, and backbone of the premise for the song.
So, I definitely dig how she does a lot of this herself performance wise. It's amazing to me how artists like Tamar can have an idea for a song and somehow bring it to fruition almost completely alone in one way shape or form.
I couldn't imagine where one would start but maybe she had the idea for the riff, maybe the vocal melodies came first, I'm really not sure but it's quite awesome to see part of that musical presence coming directly from her alone because it shows you that, although her vocals are outstanding, her true craft is in songwriting.
Perhaps that's where her true love is as well.
The thing that comes through the most profoundly about not only this song but about Tamar Berk as an artist is how she just gives these pieces of herself on her songs.
There are honestly no walls built around her music so she just lets it out how she sees fit and articulates that lyrically from such a personal perspective that you completely understand it especially if you've been in a similar situation.
She's got a real knack for delivering amazing hooks and being diverse in her musicianship and songwriting but still being able to have songs come through with a bit of a pop overcoat that adds color and character to each of her songs including this one of course.
This is honestly one of my favorite tracks off of that album and if you dig this video and the song which I couldn't understand why you wouldn't, then the entire Good Times for a Change album is something you should certainly hear because it does show different sides of her songwriting and her Artistry as well as her and her thought and personality.
The other thing I really enjoy is how she puts as much into creating a music video as she does the music itself.
It seems like she's certainly found her sweet spot with this record and I hope to see more music videos coming from this album as well because each one of the songs on the entire record are well worthy of having great music videos like this one.
This is a video that balances perfectly. It's not super over the top, but it shows everything you want to see in terms of letting Tamar's presents as an artist really come through with an outstanding brightness.
Of course, we've embedded the video below for your viewing pleasure and I strongly suggest that after you listen to this track, you go and check out that album which there's also a link for below.
