A brand-new release from River Toussant delivers a wildly addictive and alluring soundscape that blends elements of spacious and dreamy pop with elegant and sultry R&B to create something that's got its own atmosphere from beginning to end.
"Put Down for Love" is a track that takes on a texture all its own and has this silky smoothness that pulls you in.
The vocal performance is gorgeous and provides plenty of soul and sensuality along with some pretty descriptive lyrics to boot.
This track is filled with amazing instrumentation that lends a hand to the song's lushness. It's got a wonderful way of building and taking those elements of edginess that lurk just beneath the surface, and bringing them out here and there so you can see them.
This was a beautifully constructed song. You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail during its creation but it never loses that personality or character that it begins with, which may just be the most important aspect of the entire thing.
You get such great jazz influences here with horns, keys, live drums, and percussion, and it all comes together like puzzle pieces.
This track has a natural and forward-moving flow and it's very easy to get engulfed in its soundscape but it feels great to do exactly that.
By the end, you get washed away with it all as well, which I also enjoyed.
The brass instruments really add great texture and layer to the track and the whole thing has the vibe of a live performance in a way.
It's almost like it was recorded live on the floor and you get the feeling of all the players involved feeding off each other's energies the entire time which puts you in the moment.
Because it's got this almost vast undertone, it feels cinematic in its own right as well.
This was a great combination of not only instrumentation, but genre-bending as well. It does have those jazz and R&B elements but also has that pop and almost alternative edginess in its underbelly and all those things mend together seamlessly.
This was a track that I found quite addicting and pulled me away from what I was doing so it could wrap itself around me.
This is one of those songs you listen to with headphones on so you can really soak in everything it delivers.
Again, there are a lot of layers and textures going on here and with headphones, you can really take all those in.
Her vocal approach is addicting and probably one of the more addicting aspects of the entire track. She's got such a bit of swagger to her performance and you latch onto that.
You can tell she's having a great time getting into character and just laying this track out and does an amazing job of doing so.
This was textually enticing between the tonalities of the vocals and all the instruments, you get pulled into this track and the atmosphere. Once you're in that atmosphere, you don't want to leave.
This is like the kind of track you would hear in a David Lynch film. It's a little outside the box but familiar. It's welcoming but experimental at the same time.
One of my favorite aspects about it is the amount of soul that it actually delivers and how descriptive and detailed some of the lyrical content can be.
She's very good at painting pictures in your head as you listen to the song unfold.
This was a gorgeous track that speaks volumes for the artist. The song's elements of cinematic edginess really shine through and give the whole thing a themed soundscape.
Again, listen to this one with headphones because it's one of the best ways to do it, and remember where you heard it first.
