Past Silent Gives Us an Anthemic and Heavy Single

A new single release from Past Silent delivers an anthemic and heavy alt-rock and metal soundscape with deepening riffs right from the get-go, but layers of thick laid vocals that come through and pack a heavy-handed punch, so the song comes through with an overall massive sonic drive.

"Lessons" hold on to that drive and push the envelope by making it honest and relatable. It is a track about being hurt or crossed and learning that someone is not who they said they were, which is something many of us have dealt with at different points in our lives.

Having gone through struggles like that myself, it's invigorating to hear a track like this simply because I connected with it right away.

When you have these kinds of inner thoughts or struggles, it's hard to articulate them into words let alone words and music so when I heard this track it really let me feel like I wasn't so alone in those thoughts which, I feel might be part of the purpose of a song like this.

This was a huge track. The drums were pounding and really gave the song the ability to push the envelope and come through with this lush and full-bodied feel, along with that amazing balance of heaviness that comes from the metal side of things, with a melodic aspect.

The guitar work and riffs are melodic but heavy. There is definitely a hard-hitting, closed-fisted edginess coming from this track, and that also has to do with the lyrics and the vocal performance, along with the guitars, drums, and bass guitars.

The vocals have a good level of aggression. It's not over the top but matches the energy of the band themselves, so you have this amazing balance of tonalities and textures along with intensities.

There's something about this track that makes you feel like it was recorded live on the floor to an extent, and everyone involved was feeding off of each other the entire time.

Of course, I wasn't there so I could be completely wrong about that but listening to this track on record makes you want to go see the band perform live simply because, if they can capture that kind of energy and aesthetic on record so well, then seeing them live must be awesome.

I certainly love hearing a band on record and knowing immediately that they would be great in a live performance setting.

You don't get it all the time, but when it comes around, you know it.

The vocal layering is key with this track. There's a lot of amazing harmonies and backing vocals that come through, and they thicken up the atmosphere of the already lush soundscape, but it works perfectly because it builds those levels of intensity.

Again, this is a track with personality. The character behind it is someone that we can relate to. When you have a song about pain in any way, shape, or form, you automatically feel that authenticity.

When that song is performed the way this one is, you begin to feel like the song was written just for you, even though you know it wasn't.

This is certainly the type of track that balances the metal and alternative rock elements with that insane and powerful grit and energy that makes you want to sing along with your fists in the air.

This was a song that hit exactly the way it was intended to, and it comes with an accompanying music video that showcases the band's presence in a way.

You can tell these guys are having a blast doing their thing and this entire track comes from a group of people that are writing music on their own terms and are able to create something that has a killer edginess and heaviness along with a certain kind of catchiness, so the chorus is very memorable as well.

To me, this was kind of radio-friendly in a way. Heavy but still radio-friendly.

I love that combination because it just shows that this is a band that pays attention to the details when they're writing a song.

Definitely take a deep dive into this track as soon as you can, and you can see exactly what I mean.

Don't be afraid to turn it up and remember where you heard it first.
