New Releases and Upcoming Shows from Spike Polite & Sewage

If you're not yet familiar with Spike Polite & Sewage, then let us be among the first to introduce you as the band has recently dropped a full album that touches on all of the strongest elements of guttural punk rock you can imagine but also comes through with a vivacious and almost rambunctious energy.

The Sewage: Punk not Dead album runs the gambit and pulls off quite a punk rock soiree as it delivers a fierce distortion and thrashing tonality with gritty and fuzz tone bass guitar sounds along with vibrant and edgy vocal approaches that boast plenty of swagger and all the right punk rock attitude.

The thing about this record is that it hits this very unique approach to dealing with social issues because this record is completely based on social media.

With tracks like "Tik Tok Addiction" and "Facebook Makes Me Sick", you can clearly see that these guys are tackling hot-button issues and the unique thing about it is that punk rock always deals with political, governmental, and societal issues.

Punk rock, like most people and most music is very opinionated but very straightforward, cut and dry.

There's no hiding in metaphors. It's all right in your face lyrically and that's one of the best aspects of punk rock in general if you ask me.

Focusing on social media is brilliant because that is what today's society is heavily based on. Everyone's face is in their phones and social media means so much to everyone now that it's about time we had a punk rock record that dealt with all of this properly.

This was a thriving record that boasted plenty of drive and an energy that feels like the whole thing was recorded live on the floor and all the players involved were just feeding off of each other the entire time.

This helps give the record that live performance vibe and energy which is completely electric from beginning to end and is also a heavy attribute to genuine punk rock music.

This whole project is fully inspired and influenced by classic punk, and you can tell that they also love performing these tracks because the guitars are smashed, the drums are slammed, and the vocals belt.

Everything about this record hits a damn near perfect punk aesthetic and it's everything from crust, guttural, pop, and thrash but it's all rolled into one and it makes perfect sense too because these songs are all fists-in-the-air bangers.

They could be humorous but honest. They're edgy but still colorful in their own way.

It's all really well put together and it has some heart to it along with that punch that it packs.

Along with this album, the band also recently released a single called "Your Robot Took My Job" which, of course, is also a realistic thing these days. So, they're still sticking with these topics and how the changes in the world can affect people.

This is part of what makes them such a true and genuine punk rock band.

This single is a little bit separated from the album I mentioned earlier because this track comes through differently.

You still have that punk rock strength and tonality, but it also has a pop coating to it that makes it more radio friendly.

It has a sort of sharp distortion on those rhythm guitars but there are also catchy banding lead guitar sections that come in with the hooks and everything about this is kind of catchy, colorful, and memorable.

This track alone showcases how the band is able to stick to their guns when it comes to releasing punk music but they're also able to do it in a way that it's a larger base of people and delivers that catchiness that you would hear on a radio station.

I love this combination. The combination of color, pop, edginess, and aggression. The reason I love this is because it's all completely honest and that is also a big attribute to punk music.

Whether or not people think it's opinionated. Whether or not people like it. This is honest music, and everyone has the right to their opinions. Everyone has the right to speak out on topics.

A lot of the time, when it comes to music, punk rock is the genre that's always been outspoken when it comes to governmental, societal, and social topics.

These guys really give it their all and if you like any of these tracks then you'll like their entire catalog which I took a little bit of a deep dive into and I'm glad I did.

They have several releases starting in 2017 with a full album that is killer from beginning to end.

If you listen to that record called The Italian Sessions and go through everything up to the most recent release called Lurch You Bastard! you'll get a great feel for their sort of evolution.

Punk rock fans of all kinds will dig this music.

Friends that like to go see shows can also unite because the band has just announced a small but steady West Coast tour where they'll be playing some great cities which is kicking off soon.

Spots in Washington, California, Portland, and more. We've attached a video below so you can follow along and see the dates and locations.

Punk rock shows are awesome to go check out and if you have a chance, you should definitely go see these guys play live.

Trust me, if this band can capture that kind of energy on record, then seeing them live would be awesome.

Check all the stuff out and remember where you heard it first.
