Mastemath just dropped a blistering single release that wastes no time delivering Fierce and whipping riffs and speed by taking a blackened death metal approach and bringing in unstoppable energy.
"Holy Transfiguration" hits hard right from the start and the drumming alone is something that gives this track a massive drive.
The guitar work on this track is unbelievable and just as fierce as anything else on the record. The riffs are inventive and thrashing with a rambunctious approach and vast undertone.
This track is a heavy hitter and showcases the band's ability to unleash an insane amount of speed and death metal into the world, doing it with precision, and a brutal soundscape.
This track hits like a sucker punch to the gut and doesn't stop hitting throughout the entire thing.
The distortion and sonic drive of the guitars and bass are all completely massive and overtaking.
The whole tonality of it has a thick and rumbling low end but a sharp and cutting overtone which works wonders for the approach of the song because the speeds and time signatures of it are ridiculous so having the right tones between the instruments is imperative to pick up all the different time signatures that are happening.
The vocals are grueling and have a fire behind them but what I love about this single is the energy.
Something about the aesthetic of this track makes it almost seem like they recorded a lot of it live on the floor. It feels like everyone involved was feeding off each other's energies the entire time giving the song that massive fierceness and approach.
It's the energy that's infectious along with some of the sick riffs that are happening of course.
This track will give you whiplash and for anyone who loves hard-hitting, speed-driven, sonically massive, and inventive death metal, this is 100% for you.
This one track covers so much ground and lasts a good 6 minutes in length.
These guys cross classic and newer feeling metal approaches by again, bringing together the thrash, death, and blackened styles of the genre to create something engulfing.
This was an awesome escape and listening to what makes you want to go see them perform it live simply because if they can capture that kind of aesthetic and energy on record, then seeing them live must be a real face-melter.
This is exactly what you want out of a good death metal track.
It's got depth, layers, brutality, aggression, a heavy-handed dark edginess that overtones everything, and that whipping energy and sound that gives the tone of the record a harshness.
I love metal like this simply because a lot of people who don't listen to metal will never understand the kind of technique and musicianship it actually takes to make a track like this.
Everyone involved is incredible at their craft.
These guys can release a jazz record tomorrow if they feel like it.
I'm sure they won't but still.
This track speaks volumes for the band and showcases how they can really pack a lot into 6 minutes. Brilliant time signatures, amazing performances, and a classic and driving thrash and death, blackened metal single that leaves you in awe by the end.
Dive into this track as soon as you can and turn it up because there's no other way to listen to it.
Remember where you heard it first and keep your eye out for these guys.
