A new single release from Joy Burklund & Her Band delivers a joyously wonderful and honest approach to a sort of blues rock soiree where you get full-bodied and lush instrumentation including some outstanding guitar work throughout the track, along with this character that you end up getting attached to right from the start.
"on the line" comes through with a tastefully colorful Rock approach that is coded in pop and an excellent performance to the point where it feels almost like this whole thing was recorded live on the floor and everyone involved was feeding off each other the entire time.
Even if I'm wrong about the whole live on the floor thing, listening to the track definitely makes you want to see this perform live because if this kind of energy and color can be captured on record so well, then seeing it performed live in your face must be amazing.
The guitar work is a key factor on this track along with the unique vocal approach that both deliver their own kind of passion and soul but also have a very current and sort of uplifted spirit and I think that's a big aspect to why the song works so well. It is Spirited from beginning to end.
This is a delectable love song that gets detailed and crisp along with this sort of allure that makes you feel almost like the song was written for you in a strange way. Even though you know it wasn't.
I love that sort of connection because when you listen to the track and you pay attention to the lyrics, it's super relatable. Anyone that's been infatuated with someone and just wants to get close enough to kiss them and just express their feelings, can ultimately completely understand this track from beginning to end.
Memories of your own may pop into your head. You may think of your person. All of this again, is very connective and that's one of the things I love the most about this song.
There are a lot of parts during this track where you can hear Joy use her vocals as an instrument themselves and you get backing vocals that are harmonized and flowing giving the song This built out sort of atmosphere that lets it drift and float.
I love a song that has this balance of color, pop, and vibrancy in a bounce, but also has this sort of edgy rock undertone at times that's not overdone. There's something about that combination that lets it shine and throughout this track Joy's presence as an artist lets the tracks speak volumes for her artistry.
You come out of this song feeling this unique sort of warmth that it boasts and that feeling has this amazing way of sticking with you for hours after the song has ended to the point where you just may want to play it again.
As I mentioned earlier, it is full of pop infusion, so you get hooks and choruses that also stick with you for a long time and the track comes through with this sort of danceable vibe that makes you want to get up and move, sing along with, and show people.
It's been a while since I heard something that focuses on a sort of blues rock and jam guitar approach but also comes through with such brightness, shine, positivity, and spirit.
This is a track that genuinely feels good to listen to and you can tell that it came from an authentic place, so it has that realness in its underbelly, and it all works so well that all the elements of the song have a strange way of complimenting each other.
Again, the vocals are a key element with this track as well because they are also quite, dare I say, joyful.
Seriously, the vocal performance takes the cake here along with that guitar work because that energy level is balanced. The vocals match the energy of the song itself and those two things together let everything thrive.
This was a beautiful song honestly. I think that anyone who loves honest rock undertones, soulful guitars, and pop-rock music, will enjoy this as well.
I am certainly going to be paying a lot more attention to Joy Burklund & Her Band from here on out.
I would suggest that once you listen to this song, make sure you save this because as far as we can tell this is just a preview of an upcoming full album called Songbouquet that is set to be released in 2025.
Take a listen to this track and remember where you heard it first.
