A new single release from Jay Kurdy delivers a unique and honest look at certain aspects of life and it's those points of view and descriptive expressive, and detailed lyrics that get you hooked on this track because he's delivering everything from a place that you can relate to a lot of the time. The track has a massive character and personality attached to it and I feel like that is something that you end up getting engulfed during this song.
"Wishes, Dreams & Reality" delves into all kinds of life situations and aspirations as well and it does this in such a relatable style that you end up really letting the song wrap itself around you and keep you right where it wants to.
Not only is the lyrical phrasing outstanding throughout this track but it feels like the flow just never ends. It's like he takes these little breaths between certain lines but aside from that, the flow is absolutely nonstop and that's what really blows my mind about this.
I'm not sure if this was all done in one take, but it feels like a natural and forward-moving flow that was indeed done straight up, and I think that's where a lot of the talent is when it comes to Jay and how he does his thing.
Not only is he able to be honest, super descriptive, and detailed, and sit his lyrics in these pockets that let everything flow, but it feels seamless the entire time. Versus flow right into the choruses and those choruses flow right back into the verses with barely any space in between and that is something that hits hard because there's a lot to soak in because he is certainly covering a lot of ground.
I love the production on this because it's got a little bit of a light-hearted feel to it with classic style beats that feel like they're from the late '80s or early '90s but then these sort of jazzy piano parts that come in and out and this gives the track a little bit of a colorful aspect which is fun because the lyrics can feel edgy and the combination of that color and edge really works perfectly here.
One of my favorite aspects about this track as a whole is the energy level. His energy is so balanced, but it still has a bombastic and vivacious feel to it. The energy he's giving off no matter how edgy the lyrics are, feels catchy and almost poppy in a way because he's got emphasis on certain words, and he's just got this bouncy approach.
This makes the song fun as well because he's giving this sort of swagger but in his own way.
And tons of points of view and situations whether they be fictional or not and also pull off having a great course that sticks in your head for hours after the song is ended.
This track really covers all of that and the only way to satiate the fact that you keep hearing that chorus in your head is to go and listen to the song again.
This could be just smart songwriting, but I think for Jay it just comes naturally.
It makes you wonder how many takes this track actually took for him to lay out the way it is.
This is a song that speaks volumes for the artist and upon listening to it I checked out some of his other releases on his Spotify. I'm glad that I did because I came across a few other singles and EPs that are all outstanding including a track released last year called "Rise Again" which really hit me a certain way and felt spirited and almost inspirational.
This is an artist you should be checking out through and through. There's a lot in his catalog that he will definitely dig especially if you dig this track.
Jay Kurdy is an artist who is not afraid to speak his mind and is Paving his own path and the hip-hop world by doing so.
Check this track out as soon as you can and listen to it with headphones on so you can do it with no interruptions and soak everything in the way it was meant to be.
Remember where you heard it first.
