The latest release from Full Throttle delivers a thriving pop-punk approach but also blends in elements of classic rock and alternative rock as well, so you get this more robust rock banger that feels like you've been listening to it on the radio for a few decades now.
"Best of Times" comes right in kicking with a righteous riff and that classic pop-punk sound but it has a very sonically driving and anthemic chorus. Even the verses feel anthemic to an extent.
It all has this great youthful punch, but it also comes through with a certain level of spirited performance so that it even feels like it could be in the scene of a film for example.
It's uplifting and gives you a sense of nostalgia because it can get you to start thinking about memories of your own and it's just the vibe and aesthetic of the song that makes that happen.
It's a track that does indeed feel like you're looking back on your life and how great certain times were.
Now, we're no strangers to Full Throttle as a band and they've always put out some incredible stuff, but this track has a bigger sound to it sonically.
The tone of everything is right where it should be and the drive packs that same punch but in a more mature kind of way so that you still have that youthful vibrancy and approach, but it hits a little differently with this track.
This feels like a track that meant a little bit more to the guys. It's like an Ode to the times they've had as a band and it feels good to listen to. That spirited and positive sort of aesthetic is infectious, and it gets you feeling not only nostalgic, but spirited as well.
They have crew vocals filling in the background, the drummer is perfectly in the pocket but gives the sense of liveliness and of course, it has a ton of drive to the track itself.
There's a little bridge section right before the final chorus with the drums doing awesome stuff and it's almost like a halftime breakdown-style thing but more colorful.
This is one of their best choruses also if you ask me. This chorus is a real banger and sticks with you. You end up humming it in your head after it's ended and it's a fun song to listen to on repeat.
Now, if you're not too familiar with Full Throttle, then let me tell you this track is just the tip of the iceberg although I feel like it's one of their best pieces of music. They have an EP released in 2023 called Premature that's more on the straight-up, pop-punk side of things.
There's also a handful of singles released before that one and it's all good. You can actually hear their evolution is banned from then to now.
Again, I do feel like "Best of Times" is a step up and in the right direction for them. It's super tight and comes through with a big, sonically massive tonality with that strong chorus that makes you feel something.
This was particularly an amazing track but if you like this track, you're going to love the Premature album and some of their other stuff, so I would suggest driving into their back catalog.
Check out this latest track from the guys and turn it nice and loud because by the second time around you'll be singing along with that chorus.
This is a fists-in-the-air sing-along kind of track.
