A new single release from Fitzkee Brothers marks a triumphant return with a sound that beckons a classic rock and southern-infused tonality, welcoming you with warmth from not only the vocals but also the guitar tones themselves.
"Memphis" has such a welcoming feel to it. The lyrics are heartfelt and the way the vocals are performed are lush with amazing harmonies that push the aesthetic that this song aims for which is a genuine classic rock vibe.
This song sets the guys on a bit of a different path. We're no strangers to the band and can tell you that they always evolve in their songwriting and each track that they release steers in a fresh direction while keeping some of their staples on the forefront.
This one was just beautiful. It really just wraps itself around you with those beautiful tones and hooks.
Right off the bat, you have some great guitar work and along with the vocal harmonies, you get a two-part guitar harmony that feels like something from The Allman Brothers.
That real and genuine classic rock vibe is so strong here that the song actually feels like a track you've missed out on decades ago.
It's amazing to me how they're able to nail such a tone and it gives you the sense that they pay attention to those aspects when they're creating their songs.
You have organs that fill the space and bring that thick atmosphere and it all really comes together so well that when the song is over, you immediately want to repeat it again.
Fitzkee Brothers is a band that writes songs based on how they feel at the moment. Their ability to shape themselves with different influences is outstanding and this song is a perfect example of some of their more vintage approaches and it's completely authentic.
The song has a great build, and the drums come rolling in right after that first few lines bringing the band in full swing, so they definitely know how to build into that impactful rock moment.
Over the past few years, we can hear these guys start becoming more and more influenced by some of that southern tonality. Americana, country, classic rock, and more.
I'm definitely enjoying this because it's a perfect fit and they've begun to find the sound that feels best.
You can feel that energy in this track.
It's got a very spirited approach and that is infectious.
Now, don't get me wrong. Songs like "Give You All My Love" or "Lake Song" for example, both showcase some different attributes of how the band rocks out and when you listen to these songs, you'll probably be a little surprised because they do very in terms of style, genre, and songwriting approach.
I would definitely suggest listening to those tracks as well, especially if you dig this one.
The guys have been performing shows all through March and now that this song is released, they're going to be playing new ones through April and support of it.
Listening to the song on record immediately lets you know that seeing them live would be awesome.
This is the kind of feeling that doesn't come along often but when it does, you know it when you hear it.
If you don't follow Fitzkee Brothers right now, I suggest you start because I'm positive they're going to be releasing new stuff and when they do it's going to be another little surprise and will feel great to listen to.
Again, no matter what style they're going for, they nail it and do it with an infectious and wonderful energy that nails whatever aesthetic they want.
Check this track out right now and don't be afraid to put on headphones for this one because it feels best that way.
With headphones, you can pick up all the warmth from the guitar tones in the vocals. There's a lot of soul vocally, and on the guitars as well.
This was an amazing performance all around.
Remember where you heard this first.
