A fresh release from Eve Maret comes through with a vivacious dance pop and house mixture where you get a lot of drive and a combination of vast underbelly with an edgy overtone which come together to breed a really cool atmosphere that you end up loving.
"Mantra" is a track with a bit of a wild side to it and I absolutely adore this because Eve brings so much presence as an artist to this single that it's just oozing with character and personality the entire time.
This to me is super refreshing as I love hearing music that has personality attached to it like this one does.
Musically, this track has an amazing production to it with a lot of attention to detail when it comes to the arrangement and composition of it all as it brings together this classic house kind of feel but also elements of commercial pop, dance pop, synth-pop, and plenty more that are rolled up into one sonically addictive release.
One of my favorite aspects about this track is how the production of it lets the song build as it unravels and unfolds. It's got this element of unpredictability to an extent.
As you get towards the middle of the track the synths and the beats get a little bit bigger and they're more layers of textures involved including a choppy version of her voice coming in and out but used as an instrument almost like a rhythm that bounces off the main rhythm of the song itself.
The way she approaches this track vocally is also really impressive because it complements the abrasive aspect of the music. Her vocals are sort of soft and she hits all these beautiful notes melodically throughout the song and all of that counterbalances the harshness and edginess of the synths and the beats, so you have a beautiful dynamic balance that again, bears this sort of personality that you become attached to.
This was incredibly danceable, vivacious, charismatic, vibrant, and had a unique approach in terms of almost bending genres at free will but it all felt super catchy and makes you want to move the entire time.
The company music video is also quite outstanding and adds this great sort of cinematic sci-fi element to the song that you didn't really hear the very first time you listened but upon watching the video, it's evident even more.
The track does bear this sort of cinematic undertone, and the video exemplifies that perfectly.
I also love when a video can make you listen to the music a little differently and this one did exactly that.
I feel like the video of the track really helped nail the aesthetic of the song itself and both of these elements push each other perfectly so I do feel like watching the music video is the best way to first listen to this track.
Of course, we've embedded that below for you so you can check it out, but I do suggest listening to it with headphones on at the least.
Not only does this have a great groove and dance ability to it but it also has that fast undertone as I mentioned earlier. This is amazing because when you listen to it with headphones you can hear everything surrounding you and you become more engulfed in the track itself.
The single is released as part of a short EP or what I would consider to be a maxi-single which comes with another song called "Miracle" and this track shows a completely different side to how she does her thing as an artist.
The song is more experimental and a little bit spacious, but you do hear some of those staple vocal approaches that you come to know and love from listening to "Mantra".
After this I took a bit of a deep dive into Eve's back catalog and I'm certainly glad I did because she's got a lot of amazing releases including several albums and EP's that all have such brilliant experimentation, songwriting, and all connect with that outstanding presence that she lets really shine.
If you dig these two tracks and you're going to like a lot of her stuff she's released previously so I suggest checking it out.
There's a whole world of amazing music that she's dropped, and I certainly have become a fan after listening to a bunch of it.
Take a listen to this as soon as you can and remember where you heard it first.
