East York Drop a Massive New Single and Video

Writer: BuzzSlayersBuzzSlayers

A brand-new single release from East York delivers a unique approach to heavy-handed riffs and songwriting with a track that blends anthemic and melodic alternative rock with the brutality of sharp but deepening metal riffs along with unique time signatures and a robust soundscape that feels super full-bodied.

"Medicine" has a great way of grabbing you right from the get-go with a unique intro that hits pretty hard and sort of ramps you up for what's to come.

After that intro, the song explodes into a soiree of metal awesomeness. The riff here is the killer with perfected and intricate timing. It lets you know right off the bat that the band is super tight with this track.

One of the things that I love about this single is its production. There are a lot of elements in the production of this song that are used to intensify climactic sections of the song or build-ups to those sections.

This aspect is a bit outside the box, but it works super well. It's like adding extra sound effects to a horror flick. It just makes things a bit grittier and lets those buildups hit with a harder punch.

After you have that big heavy riff, it breaks into a hook section and that's part of what sticks in your head long after the song has ended.

That chorus or hook if you will, is addictive and showcases the band's ability to write something catchy but still keep it super edgy.

Then you have this melodic section that feels almost cinematic and emotionally driven which is awesome.

So, throughout this one single, you have three or four different sections that come into play along with some extra surprises around the corners and each of them showcases different styles and approaches to how the band writes.

What's cool is that these sections fit together like s puzzle pieces and make the song impactful.

The guitar tone itself is obliterating. Especially during those heavy sections. The song does have a great vastness in its undertone during the melodic stuff and the vocals come through with some great effects but also amazing melodies and harmonies that still boast a great edginess and darkness but are memorable.

It's hard to put your finger on exactly what you would call a song like this genre-wise. I don't really like to dumb things down to genres exactly, but this is almost like a cinematic metal song.

I love being able to struggle with the genre of a song. It's certainly heavy but also has the melodic and vastness as I mentioned before. Plus, a lot of production trickery that makes it even cooler and these levels of intensity come and go in waves.

The whole thing is very unique, and I think it speaks volumes for the band because throughout the entire thing, you have this unstoppable energy level.

Again, the intensities fluctuate, so the energy does as well. But there is a constant throughout this song keeping everything moving forward perfectly.

I love hearing a song on the record and immediately knowing that that band will be great to see in a live performance setting.

This track was an absolute banger and it's more than meets the eye. It's the type of track you listen to a few times back-to-back just to catch everything.

It's got plenty of outstanding guitar work and the drumming is amazing in terms of bringing that tightness and that drive. Everything is super in the pocket but it's not boring. It's fun and that drummer brings liveliness to the song as well being an essential part of how the riff works.

You also have some great keyboard and synth work adding more of that expansive spaciousness to the track's underbelly during certain melodic sections.

Along with this single comes a music video showcasing even more of the band's personality and character which is a big part of their aesthetic.

The video showcases glitchy darkness in an almost gothic-themed feel but with a great approach. It also has the feel of a sci-fi film. It's very cinematic and I loved how the band really just let everything loose energy wise, for the video.

This track certainly hit hard, and I was hooked right from that intro.

I bet you will be too. Listen to this now and do it loudly because it's how it was meant to be heard.

Remember where you heard this first.
