Dystoria Releases a Massive Rock Record

A fresh album release from Dystoria has a nearly perfect blend of edginess and character as those two elements come together to create this vast alternative rock soundscape that brings elements of 90s and early 2000s screamo together with underground heavy grunge and rock approaches and it all comes through with a certain kind of intensity that you don't want to let go of.

The Lace album is riddled with some outstanding and classic guitar riffs and even the tone of those guitars screams of the aesthetic from those classic bands but they also bring something refreshing to the table as well along with more than a few surprises around the corners.

There is this great sort of vast undertone to this record and it gives it an extra bit of edginess but it also lends a hand to elements of garage rock and even pop rocket times so there's so much genre-bending going on in terms of having that rock backbone.

I think one of the things that hits hardest about this record is their sheer unstoppable and electric energy because it makes it feel almost like some of these songs were recorded live on the floor to an extent and the players involved were just feeding off of each other's energies the entire time.

I mean, I could be completely wrong about that because I wasn't there for the recording process of course, however listening to the record at the very least makes you want to go see them perform at live in your face because if that kind of energy is captured so well on record than seeing them live must be killer.

Some songs keep to a cleaner and vaster undertone so they feel cinematic and drifting at times. It gives this dreamy effect and then those kinds of songs have a different way of engulfing you than the heavier ones do.

I love having both of those elements on the record because it gives you breathers and it also shows the different sides of the band's songwriting approaches.

This is a record that you should be listening to as a whole instead of just a few songs so that you can really soak in everything that the album has to offer.

Not only that but I feel like it's almost a concept record. I can't be positive about that one but it feels like the songs interconnect lyrically here and there and you definitely can hear some very personal and honest stuff coming out on these tracks.

The vocals are honestly pretty graceful. They do an amazing job of adding another texture and layer to these songs that bring melody and hooks along with robust choruses and everything together really creates a certain atmosphere that you just don't want to leave.

This is an alternative rock record but it does throw curve balls and as I mentioned earlier, surprises because there are songs that have hooks that stick in your head for hours after the songs have ended. Some songs are expansive and have a different flow to them. Some songs are straight alt-rock songs that hit hard and give you those nostalgic feelings of the bands I mentioned before.

That '90s underground alternative rock aesthetic.

I can definitely tell you that if you do listen to the whole record it is more of an experience than just an album. It serves as an amazing escape that can pull you away from your surroundings and put you in this whole other place altogether.

That's not something you come across often so when it comes around it's pretty refreshing.

You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail that went into the creation of this record but throughout all of that and never loses that character or that particular brand of heart that it actually delivers as well.

This was a charismatic, full-bodied, edgy, and surprisingly flowing and forward-moving release and I would suggest you listen to this with headphones so that you could soak in everything that's happening throughout these tracks.

Remember where you heard it first.
