A brand-new release from Brett Schieber certainly delivers a unique and strong brand of honesty and truth as the song unfolds. You soon begin to get an idea of where the artist is coming from along with this outstanding soundscape that blends classic industrial approaches with rock tonalities and creates these explosive choruses that end hitting with an almost anthemic feel.
"Under The Gun" has a lot to say and those messages come through loud and clear but for the most part you really pick up on the societal overtake of media, mass consumption, and basic propaganda we are fed on a normal basis and how that affects us to the point where we are itching to be a part of it all.
Now, that's just my take on it but others can view it a little bit differently as Brett does have a wonderful way of articulating what his messages are throughout the track.
This whole thing was actually written, performed and produced by Brett himself which is pretty impressive seeing that this was definitely created and designed with a lot of attention to detail, but the important thing is that it never actually loses the character or personality it was built with in the first place.
This is the most important thing about the track as a whole. The song has a way of wrapping itself around you and taking you into this ideal and understanding but it does so by bringing that honesty into a place where there is a bunch of edginess, and that overtone and combination really packs quite a punch and leaves a mark.
The song features electric guitar, synths, bopping bass lines, and an approach that feels kind of radio-friendly in a way simply because he layers his vocals and creates memorable choruses and hooks throughout the track.
I do indeed quite enjoy the way that he performs on this vocally because it is double, sometimes triple-tracked, and not everything is precisely lined up, so you have this almost the raw energy element to it and the soundscape of it all feels thicker and more full-bodied because of the way he did this.
Some vocals run over others ever so slightly giving the impression of a larger tone and I love this approach because it not only feels super personal which, obviously it was, but it also has a sort of universal feel to it as well which goes right along with that universal sentiment.
There is a sort of brightness and colorful attribute to the track as well which meshes with the edginess perfectly and I definitely love how it's a song that wasn't really created for societal approach.
It was done so that he can let this sort of emotion and inner thought out in the best way he knew how.
When you listen to the song, you'll completely understand a lot of the things he's talking about, but you'll be blown away at how he's able to articulate that into words and music.
I thought this was quite a brilliant track that let Brett's abilities as a songwriter and producer shine because the song takes you away from wherever you are and whatever you are doing and puts you into his head for a moment in time but when you get there, it all makes sense.
This is a songwriter who is able to leave a mark on you and I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more music from Brett Scheiber this year as this is his debut track for 2025, and it's all just begun.
Have a listen to this track and do it with headphones on because it's one of the best ways to approach it and remember where you heard it first.
