Bleu Grave Just Dropped a Fresh Post-Punk EP

A fresh EP release from Bleu Grave brings out a classic feeling post-punk approach that blends itself with a little bit of a grunge undertone and a lot of honesty in descriptive sets of lyrics which gives the whole thing personality.

The Chorus Ghost EP is the kind of record that sort of swims around in the air that surrounds you because there are a lot of beautiful effects that let everything come through sort of gracefully.

I dig this aspect because it adds a wetness to the record and depth as well.

The guitars are riddled with a chorus effect, and this gives that watery feel and allows you to pretty much float alongside the sounds that you're hearing.

It's definitely a beautiful record but it also has a haunt and a slight edginess in its underbelly as well that peek through when they need to.

For me, this record was completely nostalgic because they nailed that post-punk aesthetic perfectly from the guitar tones, but also the vocals, the drumming, the bass lines, everything was done with that influence, and it feels like a love letter to the bands that influence them.

You want to listen to all the songs on this release as opposed to just a few because then you can get the full spectrum of what it actually has to offer.

This is one album I can say not only should you listen to the entire thing, but you should also do it with headphones on so you can really soak in all the notes and textures that are floating around in the ether of these songs.

There is a sort of dark and brooding undertone but that comes along with that whole post-punk aesthetic so again, it's totally nailed from top to bottom in terms of giving me the warm and fuzzies and letting me be nostalgic while listening to it.

Some outstanding layers are happening with this record and they're a few surprises around the corners as well.

I also love that the band feeds into that whole sort of brooding energy because it works perfectly.

I feel like some of these songs were even recorded live on the floor to an extent because it feels like everyone in the band is feeding off of each other.

Yes, there is a sort of dream rock undertone as well and that comes right along with that bit of cinematic vastness that the band gives off with not only that chorus effect, but also certain elements of these songs are dripping with the reverb effect as well.

This makes vocals in certain guitar sections sound very distant, and I think they're layering the drums with that reverb really took this record far as well.

The snare drum just echoes out and helps build that atmosphere that the songs are creating.

When you make a record like this it's important to understand that the mix is imperative. If everything were just dry and the snare sounded super up close with no wetness, the guitars didn't have much effect on them, and so on, then the record would not have the aesthetic that it's supposed to have.

A lot of reviewers won't talk about the mix, but I have to hear because it's so important to how the songs are meant to feel.

That feeling comes across perfectly here because whoever makes the tracks did an amazing job of delivering that post-punk wetness that it's supposed to have.

Because of that, you're really able to get engulfed in this record and swim around through those atmospheres.

This was a wonderful record that had fantastical elements, it came through with personality and some character, it was very well thought out, but there's also this natural flow to it that just feels good to listen to.

Dive into this EP when you get a chance and do it with headphones on.

Most importantly, remember where you heard it first.
