The latest release from Thalia Sophia comes through as a sultry and alluring soul-pop single that has a way of reaching out and grabbing your attention, wrapping itself around you, and keeping you right where it wants to.
"Touch" delivers passionately performed vocals that come with a subtle softness but with impact along with this smooth and flowing guitar that gives off that soul and almost jazz undertone bringing things into an R&B soundscape as well.
This track does absolute wonders for Thalia as an artist as it really shows her presence and color along with her ability to deliver a track that has some emotional drive but still has a beautiful pop sheen that keeps it so likable it's almost impossible to turn away from.
The song has a damn near perfect production to it and it keeps to this sort of cinematic backbone where you can see it in a TV show or a film easily.
I think one of the things that I really love about this song is the amount of character and persona that she gives off throughout its course because, by the end of it, you feel like the song was almost meant for you, and songs like that if done right, can have that effect.
Thalia pulls this off without a hitch and more so, does it with a charming approach and lets the entire thing become incredibly enticing.
A lot about the song has a graceful touch to it and there's nothing about it that's really overdone so it walks that line dynamically and lets you get washed away with the whole soundscape of everything.
The single has an outstanding vibe and I think that's what really catches you.
A song like this is certainly not reinventing the wheel however, it has to be performed the right way to get the point across and to give off the aesthetic that it needs to which is not an easy thing to accomplish.
This artist has an amazing combination of youthful energy and flow but also this maturity in performance and songwriting that come together to build an atmosphere that you just want to stay in.
This is one of those artists that you want to keep an eye out for because she delivers this certain quality of music that gives her a class and I think that class is something we've been missing with a lot of genres of music for a very long time.
Hearing this was absolutely refreshing and kept me completely engaged the entire time.
With the release of such a wonderful single, we wanted to have a sit-down with Thalia Sophia to find out what inspired this song and where it came from along with what might be coming up next for the artist.
Here's what happened.
Buzz Slayers: Okay, let's start with "Touch "! This track had soul to it and blended an old school with fresh vibe together! How did this release come about?
Thank you! I’m influenced by many different kinds of artists and styles and genres, but I feel most connected to my voice when I’m singing soul and rnb. I was inspired by the slightly sensual vibe of the track, and the melody/lyrics and harmonies all just flowed out of me from there.
Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you as an artist?
I’ve had a pretty roundabout journey with music. I’ve always sung and performed since I was a little girl, I even competed on La Voz kids, but in high school I discovered a love for the sciences and completely changed track to pursue medical school. During Covid, I realized I couldn’t cut music out of my life entirely without regretting it. I jumped back in to music, no music contacts, everyone I knew was also pursuing medical school, and decided I’d just figure out as much as I could on my own. I’m still very much learning, experimenting with music styles, and growing in my songwriting.
Buzz Slayers: What kind of things really inspire songs for you?
My songwriting is inspired by how I see and feel the world. Growing up, I always thought I was too sensitive and couldn’t understand why I felt things as strongly as I did. Now it guides my songwriting in ways I didn’t think possible!
Buzz Slayers: This release has some great approaches to it! Can you give us some of your biggest influences musically?
I’m influenced by so many different kinds of music- I don’t know where to start! This song was inspired by the slower sensual vibes in some of Ariana Grande’s music, as well as Lauren Jauregui. Vocally, I’ve always been inspired by Christina Aguilera and Amy Winehouse’s styles. I will definitely be continuing to experiment with tons other musical influences!
Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?
When I’m not working on my music, I’m usually at the beach with my boyfriend and family, and my super sweet little chihuahua, Charlie- he lovesss the beach!
Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?
Ooh, who’s not in my headphones lol. Whenever fall/winter hits, I definitely gravitate to more chill, laid back music. Right now, it’s Back on 74 by Jungle and anything Izo Fitzroy!
Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances right now?
I perform periodically in the Orlando area. I do a lot of pop and latin cover music for restaurants and different venues in the area. Reach out if you need a singer!
Buzz Slayers: Do you record these at a big studio, or do you have a home studio set-up?
I have my own at home set up to record quick ideas, but I go to a studio in the area for the final vocals.
Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?
I’m finishing up some touches on my next release, experimenting with more of an upbeat style. Hopefully you like it!
Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?
Thank you so much for listening- can’t tell you how much it means to me!
