An Interview With Dana

A new single release from Dana brings out an incredibly smooth R&B and pop crossover that bears tons of soul, especially in the vocal performances, and hints towards classic undertones that tend to give it a little bit of a nostalgic feel at times but with a fresh spin and it all creates this alluring atmosphere that you don't want to leave.

"Private Party" is packed with character and persona as everything is delivered with passion and within it all you can definitely hear that this artist has an absolute love for his craft because that comes through with every note.

The track has a very fresh feeling beat but it also has these synths and keys that give it an almost ambient tonality that lurks just beneath the surface but this of course adds to that atmosphere and almost mysterious sort of swagger that it encompasses.

After the first listen you automatically get hooked on that chorus because it's one that bounces around in your head for hours after the song is ended and in a strange way this track definitely has a little bit of escapism because there are touches of fantasy throughout it and that lets you step into someone else's world for a little bit and forget about your own.

I think that's something that we've been missing in music for quite some time and perhaps it's that classic tone that brings it back out,

Either way, it feels great to listen to this track and just get engulfed and washed away with its whole sultry vibe.

The single is built on soul and puts it out with such a smooth and silky approach that it really lets Dana shine as an artist and showcase some of that presence.

This track actually makes you want to go see the artist live honestly, and I think it's because of that particular energy and the way that the song is arranged and performed.

It seems like Dana is fresh on the music scene but that could just be Spotify. You can tell even if he is new to the scene, that this is a seasoned musician and performer who knows how to do all kinds of harmonies and sing on a record with a certain level of gracefulness that makes everything feel genuine and authentic.

The production on this was also really well done and there was a good amount of attention to detail, but it never loses that persona that it was built from.

With the release of such a well-woven single, we wanted to have a sit-down with Dana to find out where this track actually did come from and what might be coming up next for the artist.

Here's what happened.

Buzz Slayers: Okay, let's start with "Private Party"! This track had such a sultry and alluring flow to it that captured a really good energy! How did this release come about?

-This song was created with my dear friend Aaron. We wanted to do a collaboration that captured two personalities that was a different vibe from my other music I have previously released. We were just wanting something that was mesmerizing and sensual without being to much but paint a picture for the listener. Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you as an artist?

-It started in my mind growing up always coming up with music in my head but was too reserved and scared to bring it to life. My family is filled with singers but I was the only one that truly pursued it as my career because it had always been my passion and what speaks to me and allows me to express and inspire people with music. Buzz Slayers: This track features Aaron! How did you two meet and decide this was to happen?

-Yes, I met Aaron through another acquaintance of mine who introduced use and ever since that day we have been best friends and inseparable. I found out he was a singer as well and he always wanted to record music but never had anyone push him to use his talents until I came along and we ended up making magic. Buzz Slayers: What kind of things really inspire songs for you?

-My music is inspired by the different experiences I have through my life from finding love, self-love, identity, nature, and personal growth.

Buzz Slayers: This record has some interesting approaches to it! Can you give us some of your biggest influences musically?

-My musical influence is anything that catches my ear. I love so much music and listen to to many artist to pick one. I definitely love and support other independent artist. I would say my influence is a lot of alternative and contemporary RnB artist mixed in with pop. Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?

-I work a full-time job to support my career until it gets to a level to where I can be able to only focus on music as my goal. I am also always writing and creating new approaches to my sound. I also develop and exercise my vocals daily.

Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?

-Right now I listen to Ciara, Normani, Maxwell, Seal, Mario, Kem, Pentatonix,Brandy, Skylar Stecker, Durand Benarr, Victoria Monet, Sabrina Claudio, and a lot of independent artist of all genres. Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances right now?

-Yes, I will be doing live performances soon for my upcoming project. Right now I do perform in bars and community events. Buzz Slayers: Do you record these at a big studio or do you have a home studio set-up?

-I have my own studio set up and record my own lead vocals and background vocals. I produce my sound and mix and master all of my music.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

-They can definitely expect and brand new me and era that shows how much I have grown in myself and music. I will have more consistent content and performances coming soon! Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

-I would love to say to them I love and appreciate them for supporting my art. I am forever grateful and hope as a grow as an artist you stay on this journey with me and continue to be inspired by my music for years to come.
