An Interview With Cadre Scott

A new full album release from Cadre Scott brings out a beautifully subtle contemporary pop tonality that also features some very personal and honest singer-songwriter attributes that give you a great roundabout feel for her not only as an artist but as a person as well.

The Living Loving Growing album is lush and full-bodied with these beautifully woven singles strewn across the course of the record that can all stand on their own two legs; however, this album is best soaked in from beginning to end.

These are personal and honest stories told from a one-on-one perspective and it gives everything a certain tone and feeling so that you can become wrapped in its purpose.

This Record features some outstanding instrumentation and everything about it has this sort of graceful delivery to it from the instruments to the vocals and together it creates an atmosphere that you just don't want to come back out of.

These are like living chapters of someone's life and in a way it's a sort of escape like reading a good book.

When you're done with the record you have to shake it off to come back to reality again and I love that fact.

I think that's certain records were made so that you can get a glimpse of someone else's life while stepping out of your own because we all need to do that sometimes.

These are also like I said, very personal experiences on certain tracks so to be able to articulate what she's trying to say in the form of song is pretty impressive but also most likely the only way that she knew how to do it.

If you think about it that way then making this record might have been incredibly cathartic for her.

Of course, I could be wrong I'm definitely not the songwriter here but as a listener, the way I took it in was in such a way that certain songs had an impact but the whole album had a different impact then song to song did.

This record also does an outstanding job of letting her character shine because it's got so much charm and so much personality all over it that you just feel like you know her better when the album is over.

This release has an air of a sort of Indie pop soul approach and her singing is really the glue that holds everything together so well and keeps everything authentic and genuine.

Incredibly put together and done with heart, this album is something you should definitely not miss out on.

With the release of such a wonderful record, we wanted to have a sit-down with Cadre Scott to find out where this record actually came from and what might be coming up next for the artist.

Here's what happened.

Buzz Slayers: Okay, let's start with The Living Loving Growing album! This record had a beautifully honest contemporary acoustic pop feel to it! How did this album come about?

Thank you! This album was created from a big shift in my life. After going through a rough patch, I decided I was going to take the time to go inward, focus on figuring myself out and discover what my priorities were. So, I was spending a lot of time with myself just writing and really growing :) It started with one song that I was super stoked to record and release. Then, my inspiration kept flowing and I decided I wanted to create a full album. These songs all have a lot of life lessons woven into them. This album really helped me find my sound more than my previously release music.

Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you guys as an artist? When did you fall in love with music?

Honestly, I’ve loved music ever since I can remember. Since, I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to be a singer. I began writing my own music first in 2018. I just kept rocking with it until 2020, when I released my first single. I haven’t stopped writing since!

Buzz Slayers: What kind of things really inspire songs for you?

Usually, conflict is what inspires me writing the most…haha. The struggle can be internal or external; either way, if something is wrong, I usually can write a song about it. However, lately I’ve been enjoying putting more of a fun, free, groovy twist into my songs; even if, they are about something heavy. I’ve been learning not to take myself too seriously.

Buzz Slayers: This album has some great styles on it! Can you give us some of your biggest influences musically?

I absolutely love anything and everything musical from the 60s and 70s. Generally, the biggest influences in my music are Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, and Carole King. On this album specifically, my producer, Will Gawley, and I had some fun messing around with many elements. Some of the layers included guitar slides and harmonies to really channel some sounds of the 60s and 70s, like Fleetwood Mac and The Mamas & The Papas.

Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?

When I’m not making music, you’ll probably find me in the sun somewhere listening to music (haha). I love to do anything outside, whenever it’s warm enough. In addition, I love to read, sew, and draw. The list goes on I like to stay busy, busy…busy:)

Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?

Lately, I’ve actually been listening to a lot of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin. Now, I am definitely on a little southern rock/classic rock kick as the weather has warmed up. Also, I always have Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstadt, Eagles, Al Green, and Wings on queue.

Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances right now?

At this moment, I have a few local acoustic gigs coming up. I am planning some bigger things like festivals into the fall and a mini tour for this summer!

Buzz Slayers: Did you record yourself or hit a big studio for this?

For this album, I got to record in a home studio of a friend who produces and makes his own music. As of now, all my music that is out was recorded there. Yet, I am excited to announce that I’ve been able to work in professional studio in Nashville. I just recorded two new singles that I am working on. It’s been really cool to have both creative experiences.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

In the very near future, I will be releasing at least one single, and then after that I will be releasing another EP! I’m so excited to share this new music. I’ve been able to step into the next level of myself.

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

Thank you for listening to and loving me! I can’t wait to share more music and exciting projects with you all soon! <3
