An Honest and Emotional Release from Wilma Roman

The latest EP from Wilma Roman comes in the form of emotionally driven ballad style songs that each have such a beautiful approach and cinematic backbone in a way so that you really can soak in all that emotion as it comes out at you, and I think that this is why the record comes through so addictive.

The Acoustic Collection EP boasts so much wonderful honesty that it feels like it could have been cathartic for Wilma to actually write and release but for the listener a lot of these songs can seem very relatable to the point where it almost feels like certain tracks were written just for you even though you know they weren't.

Each of these songs takes you on a bit of a personal journey and with each one Wilma is definitely giving a little piece of herself and I find that very alluring because it shows a lot of presence as an artist, and it also shows the passion for letting things out and the only way she knows how. Through her music.

This is a wonderfully connective aspect because there are songs that showcase such deepening personality and inner thought that they hit you in certain ways and sometimes it can cause memories of your own to pop into your head which is quite wonderful if you ask me because you don't get it often.

When you come across a record like this one, you feel because of it, and you think because of it. In my opinion, we need a lot more music that does indeed make you think and feel the way that this one does.

The songs are freeing in spirit, and you can tell that they each meant so much to Wilma herself that it's almost gratifying to listen to them. This is a record that has a lush combination of guitar, synth pads, acoustic, pianos, and more so although it says acoustic collection, there's a lot more going on than just acoustics.

I can totally understand how some would consider this to be a little bit more stripped down to an extent, but these songs are very wonderfully woven and have gorgeous layers of textures that come in and out giving them more impact and more depth as you listen.

I found a lot of these tracks quite moving and Wilma has a knack for painting a picture for whoever is listening so that they are able to understand everything that's happening and where it's coming from as well.

The most impactful aspect about the entire record is her vocals of course. The vocal approach is passionate, soulful, and pretty much flawless if you ask me.

She hits such outstanding ranges between her chest and head voice and really reminds you of certain kinds of late 90s or early 2000s contemporary pop artists that really made an impact in the musical world.

You can sort of hear these influences coming in and out of the songs as you listen. The more full -bodied versions of some of these songs and they're all amazing.

Now I can understand why it's called Acoustic Collection.

The original versions of these tracks are much lesser and robust with more vocal harmonies and all kinds of things going on. Some of them come through just as impactful as the versions on the Acoustic Collection EP but personally, I like the EP versions the most because they let you soak in the lyrics in a different way.

That emotion is also a little bit rawer, and I think that comes through with a slightly more impactful vibe.

The full versions are outstanding as well and produced incredibly.

There are also a few other singles previously released that are well worth listening to and I feel like listening to all of her releases from then till now, gives you a good grasp on her evolution as an artist.

These songs also show different sides of her as a person as well as an artist.

Take a deep dive into this EP as soon as you can and do so with headphones on because if you do it that way, the songs seem to swim around in the air that surrounds you and it's just a beautiful experience.

Remember where you heard it first.
