An Album of Covers from The Quarantined (Sean Martin)

A recent album release from The Quarantined (Sean Martin) delivers a series of cover songs that are approached with an edgy but unique style that lets the songs stay true to the originals but also gives them a fresh Spin and a new attitude at times as well.

The Bedroom Inc. Deluxe Edition album is packed with surprising approaches to tracks that aren't easy to cover, but not only are they done with an amazing set of textures and tones, but the songs also cross genres at times and read new sounds all while still remaining an ode to the bands who originally released the songs.

This is a crazy idea because it's not just a few tracks. This is an entire album of cover tracks, and the choices are amazing because they all fit with the confluence of the album as a whole.

There are so many outstanding tracks on this record but one of my favorites has to be this incredible cover of "Rooster", originally by Alice in Chains.

This track really showed the soul of the record in a particular way and also let the project really thrive in terms of the project's creator, songwriter Sean Martin.

Sean was able to take these songs and even sort of change certain arrangements and composition in there to really make it work differently but still powerfully.

You can tell throughout this record that he's just having an absolute ball. Everything feels good, it feels fun, there's a great blend of color and edginess that balances everything out dynamically and there's plenty of soul, especially on those vocals but also with the guitar work as well.

This was such a fun record to dive right into and you can tell that certain tracks were ones that he's been waiting to just put out there for ages because they're done with such attention to detail but never without personality. This may be the most important aspect of the whole thing. These songs are put together, chosen, arranged, and performed as cover songs but they all have such thick character and personality to them it's amazing.

One of my other favorites on the record is the classic "Ain't No Rest for The Wicked" because right from the get-go you can tell he wanted to give this a real deep groove and really keep as close to the original as he could, but still change up a few things that give you a little bit of a surprise around the corner. This was a great excuse for Sean to belt out those vocals and feel good doing it.

There's even a cover of "A Change Is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke.

This one is also amongst my top choices simply because not only did he choose to cover an incredible song, but he did it in a way that boasts that depth and soul but also brings a little bit of a rock undertone to it which he does with a lot of his stuff.

This record goes to show you that not only does Sean have an affinity for alternative rock, classic rock, R&B soul, pop, and more but he's able to give those genres his own approach and is brave enough to record a full album of songs that are a love letter to the bands and artists that created him musically.

A gorgeous record with so much great rock backing, so much character, color, soul, charisma, gracefulness, heart, and just massive personality oozing through this entire release, you absolutely must check out this record and if you do, it's one of those albums that you listen to from beginning to end.

Listening to one or two tracks off of this record may give you a tiny gist of what you could expect but, it does not give you anywhere near the full spectrum of what the entire album has to offer as a whole.

Believe me, there's plenty this album has to offer. There are layers upon layers of outstanding musicianship and genre-bending that all leave an impact in their own way.

Check this record out as soon as you can and see how it affects you.

Remember where you heard it first.
