An Addictive New Single Release from Cougar Beatrice

A recent single release from Cougar Beatrice delivers a warm and almost welcoming rock tonality that comes with a lush personality and this almost progressive blend of classic, indie, and even a little alternative pop rock but what really grabs you is the way it's all performed and put together.

"Gramps" has a thick and kind of full-bodied soundscape to it and this is because it's got these expansive and almost vast sounding guitar sections that have an amazing energy and do give the track a little extra drive but there are also vocals that are double-tracked or harmonized throughout the entire song and this style makes me think of light-hearted pop rock from the late 90s that you might hear on radio stations everywhere.

Again, there's something just welcoming about this single and the energy throughout it really almost lends a hand to live performance. It feels almost as if a bulk of the track was recorded live on the floor and everyone involved was feeding off of each other's energies the entire time.

Even if I'm wrong about the whole live on the floor thing, listening to this track definitely makes you want to go see the man perform at live because if they can capture this kind of color and energy on record then seeing it live would be amazing.

I definitely adore listening to a band or a song from a band and immediately knowing that will be a great live act.

This is one of those bands. When you listen to the song you just know seeing them live will be awesome.

A lot of different aspects of this track feed into each other and all the instrumentation and performances complement each other as well.

It is an absolutely perfect blend of color and this progressive rock edginess that gives you little miniature bouts of nostalgia here and there and comes through with a sort of gracefulness in its own way.

The way the vocals are performed gives off some soul. It's like there's a hidden southern undertone that looks just beneath the surface but doesn't really show face too much.

It's there. You can feel that southern soul in the roots of where this track is coming from.

I find this very intriguing because it's hard to pick up on but you do feel it.

At any rate, the vocals give off such memorable melodies and hooks, and again, as I mentioned earlier, they're layered. At no point do you hear just here one singular vocal track. They're always either double-tracked with the same notes, or they're two different notes harmonizing with each other.

This is a big part of why the song has that sort of robust feel to it. But it also adds to that warmth that the song gives off as well.

As you listen through you pick up on all kinds of different influences that the song captures here and there.

I love the fact that you can hear across over of '70s classic rock and '90s pop rock all-in-one shot.

After all, maybe one was inspired by the other anyway.

Those melodies, especially coming from the vocals, seem to bounce around in your head for hours after the song has ended and you have to say that by going and listening to it again.

You can clearly tell this is done by a group of people who have a real love for their craft and when I say that I don't just mean playing instruments or singing. I mean writing songs together so they can put something into the world that makes sense or that feels relatable, that gives off an energy.

This was really an incredibly well-performed track and had a seamless way of infusing all these different rock subgenres into the mix.

Upon listening to this track I checked out some of the other releases and they definitely have a slew of singles and eps that they've been dropping since 2019.

Each one of these gives off a slightly different vibe and shows different sides to the band's artistry and personality.

One of the most fun things to do is listen to their evolution as a band from 2019 up until now.

Definitely check out this single soon as you can and you'll find yourself getting strangely attached to the energy and the aesthetic that it gives off.

Again, for me it was slightly nostalgic in different ways. A lot of that is due to the guitar work in the vocals of course but the whole band really puts in a perfect balance of textures and approaches that make the song stand on its own two feet.

Definitely dive into this when you can and while you're at it, listen to the rest of their stuff.

Remember where you heard it first.
