A brand-new single premiering today from Aimee Lefkowicz has the ability to leave you somewhat breathless as she opens up and wears her heart on her sleeves through a gorgeous performance of a song that swells and sways and washes you away with its sound.
"Through The Park" has plenty of emotion and truth behind its layers of passionate vocals and lush soundscapes and it all seems to wrap itself around you and hold on tight as she gets personal and up close with lyrics that can make memories flash through your head at any given moment as if the song was a chapter in a part of your own life.
An absolutely beautiful showcase of a youth in songwriters that really take things to a different level with production and songwriting itself.
Her arrangement is spot on, the song takes you for a journey and you can feel it working its charm on you.
You understand and relate to her. You feel like the song was almost meant for you. In a way, it was. It was meant for you to hear.
Lefkowics delivers with "Through the Park' and we can't wait to see what's next already.
With such a genuine single release, we wanted to have a chat with the artist to find out where this song actually did come from and what may be next for her.
Here's what happened.
Buzz Slayers: Let's kick things off with "Through the Park". This single has a pretty genuine feel to it. Where did this track come from?
This song was born in the midst of the pandemic when really the only thing there was to do was go for long socially distanced walks in the park and around my neighborhood. In the middle of all this I totally forgot what it was like to even interact with another human, let alone how it felt to be touched and to connect with someone so deeply and unexpectedly. This story is about how beautiful, overwhelming, and blissful it is to find a connection with someone (even from a distance!), and every complicated feeling that comes along with it.
Buzz Slayers: What inspires you to write a song?
I am always, always, looking for songs at any given moment. I look for songs in the environment around me, the hilarious quotes from my friends, from the music I hear on the street or from my peers, from the trees, from sleepless nights, and much much more. I think there is so much to be found in the little things all around us that are easily missed, and you can really dig deep to find the inspiration everywhere.
Buzz Slayers: This single has some great styles! Can you all give us some of your top musical influences?
My biggest influences and heroes are Alanis Morissette, Taylor Swift, The Head and The Heart, Brandi Carlile, Fleetwood Mac, Victoria Bigelow, and so many more! I love really lyric-heavy tunes and any song that makes you feel all the extreme feelings. I also am really inspired by all the indie/folk/rock sounds that are coming out of Seattle right now, my hometown.
Buzz Slayers: What are you all doing when you're NOT working on music?
I love being outside in any way that I can. The trees are refreshing and an essential part of my wellbeing!
Buzz Slayers: Who's in all your headphones right now?
I am listening to a huge variety of music at the moment, but my top artists are Anaïs Mitchell, Madison Cunningham, The Shins, and COIN.
Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances right now?
I am! I’m playing a couple shows around the New England area in the next few months- you can hear all about my upcoming performances on my website and social media pages as well!
Buzz Slayers: This single feels like a big undertaking, is there any advice you'd give to other up and coming artists out there?
Love and embrace your sound/stories always! And also, to any other emerging artists, you can always feel free to reach out to me for collaborations! I think making music with other artists is the biggest blessing in the world.
Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?
I’m currently working on an EP that has some of my most honest and emotionally ambiguous stories I’ve written. It is a collection of songs I’ve collected from the past few years, which have been the most beautiful, heartbreaking, and formative years of my life. Keep an eye out for it!
Buzz Slayers: Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?
I hope this song makes you feel all the beautiful feelings I felt while writing it. Every time I play it, it feels exactly like falling in love. I hope you’re able to experience that feeling right along with me. Thank you so much for listening and all the support!
