A new single release from Days Like These delivers a wild and vibrant combination of genres that come through in a massively pounding soundscape that encompasses everything from alternative pop, heavy and hard-hitting rock, hip hop, and so much more all just rolled into one fat release. The whole thing has a massive character, one of the strongest reasons you get attached to this song.
"SOURPUSS" has an absolutely electric energy, and this is something that's completely infectious and doesn't let up from the very beginning to the very end but for me, it's this combination of color and edginess that really grabs at me.
This is the type of track that turns heads from across the room and we'll take your attention away from anything you're doing.
It's got a very refreshing production that is completely outside the box but still fits into this pop-coated banger so that you end up wrapped up in the entire drive of this track alone.
And believe me, this song definitely has a killer drive to it.
The lyrics are straightforward but they're also fast-paced so you end up finding yourself wanting to listen to the track a couple of times in a row just so you can catch everything.
I also really love how there are a few different hooks in the track, and some are heavy with crunchy distorted guitars that give a vastness to the song's undertone while other times some of the catchy and hooky sections are clean with a pop-oriented soundscape.
This is such a killer combination and the way they pull it off makes everything feel so natural and forward moving.
The beats and guitars, synths, and vocals are all sort of fierce but also have a certain level of heart to them as well, so they come through with a hell of a punch but it's not in a super aggressive or negative way.
The mending and meshing of genres together during this track just makes you realize that this is where the future of music is going, and this band has caught on to it ahead of others.
There are no walls built around this and the song is certainly released with fewer boundaries than you may be used to.
There's no one genre that this song is. I'm sure that anyone could argue with that, but I don't care.
There's simply no way you can put your finger on just one single genre that this track is, and I feel like that's a big aspect of a group that's going somewhere because they create just for the sake of creating.
They're doing it for the fun of it because it feels good to do it and that's why this is such a great form of art for them.
The vocals are all perfectly in line with the energy of the rest of the track and that to me is one of the most important aspects as well because sometimes you have a track that has an insane production like this one does and combine genres and instruments that don't normally go together, and then the vocals end up kind of lackluster and it ruins the song.
This is of course not the case with this track because the vocals do nothing but push the song further.
This is one of those songs where every element of it does actually push the next one.
It's to a point where the track feels as if it's giving off a live performance energy just because it's so edgy, fun, and hard-hitting.
As I mentioned earlier, if I absolutely had to give it a genre, I would call it an alternative pop rock single because it has all the elements of an alternative pop song, but it throws in these heavy guitars and makes things bigger and gives the whole song more sonic drive.
Definitely dive into this trike as soon as you can and most certainly turn it nice and loud because that's the way it was meant to be listened to.
The whole vibe of this track is completely addicting, and you walk away from it with those hooks bouncing around in your brain for hours on end.
Don't just take my word for it, check this out.
