A Video Interview with Marc Willis

Marc Willis returns with an outside the box single that comes with such a rare breed of honesty and an intense approach that combines and bends genres at free will but manages to put out a soundscape and a track that really hits hard in all the right ways and comes through with that combination of color and edginess.

"Apeshit" is actually quite a good title for this track because its composition is really well arranged and put together but there's still this wild and rambunctious tonality to it that blends electronic and EDM style synths and keys along with driving dance and house beats at times but there's also wraps and vocals that are Incorporated which really let the song become a fusion of these different sounds.

The single speaks volumes for Willis as a producer and even a sound engineer to an extent because he also mixed and mastered the single and a mix is really important when it comes to a song like this because not only does it Bend and blend genres but there's also layers of textures and tones that have to be approached properly in the mix so that everything comes through with the right aesthetic.

This is a banger of a track and features Che Wulaam and Maeve Fuego who each bring a little extra flavor and color to the table and brighten the track up but keep to that edgy approach that the song boasts from the get-go.

This is indeed quite an edgy song and has a lot of drive to it both musically and lyrically so it's not exactly for the faint of heart but, it's completely fun and again, does breed a certain and unique approach to honesty that hits in quite a descriptive manner at times.

The brilliance in this track lies in its production and how the song has a great end sort of vast underbelly to it but everything on the forefront and the upfront it's really hard, so you have this combination of atmosphere and edginess that come together to build a song that has impact and is incredibly well balanced dynamically.

We are no strangers to the music and productions of Marc Willis and can certainly tell you that this track is a step in a little bit of a different and unique direction because although his music always dabbles in experimental approaches, this song really feels more expansive.

There's a lot more going on. There are a lot more layers happening and there's also a glue that holds everything together very well.

Not only is the track balanced musically and dynamically but its energy levels are intense, to say the least, and that intensity doesn't really go away although it certainly seems to come in these sorts of waves.

From the last record we reviewed a few years back, we could already tell that Willis is the kind of songwriter and performer who puts together songs with fewer walls built around them and that is a unique approach for anyone, but I also feel like it's part of what the future of music can and will be.

The track is part of an upcoming and bigger project, and we decided to have a sit-down with Willis to talk about not only this song, but the upcoming project, how he puts his songs together, what drives him, and more.
