An album release from Morning Star (aka Tasmin & Tim) comes through with a vivacious approach with an electric energy that doesn't seem to let up throughout the whole record. This is all accompanied by an amazing southern rock and country undertone that all comes with a lush sort of character and set of personalities that you end up getting attached to.
The Morningstar album is riddled with memorable and outstanding guitar swagger and riffs that come through feeling powerful but also with a ton of soul. This guitar work across this album is one of the most addictive and infectious aspects of the entire thing.
The record is bursting at the seams with lush approaches and soundscapes that can feel edgy and hit hard but also have this almost cinematic backbone to them at times.
You can hear classic rock influence in there left and right which is quite a brilliant combination with that southern tonality the record already boasts.
Vocally, the album is incredibly powerful as the female-fronted project comes through with impactful approaches that also provide a lot of soul but with this added sort of edge and power.
She is an incredible vocalist who knows how to balance dynamically. When things are subtle and calm her vocals exhale and calm with the music but when things are uproarious and vibrant, or vocals follow suit as well and she begins to belt out.
One of the other things I adore about this album is the energy level throughout the entire thing. It is completely electric, and it feels almost like the record was recorded live on the floor to an extent and everyone involved was feeding off each other's energies the entire time.
The record feels alive and breathing. It is incredibly well performed and has heart, charisma, and soul just oozing from every note.
You do get elements of different influences throughout the record and that's just one of the reasons you should be listening to this album from beginning to end.
If you listen to only one or two tracks from the record, you may get an idea of what you can expect but you will not get the full spectrum of what the album has to offer as a whole.
There's a lot that this record has going on for it. There are layers to be peeled back, it's got a punch, it's got a lot of inventive approaches, but it also has that homeland rock underbelly so that songs feel impactful but welcoming at the same time.
It's a brilliant combination of color and edginess. You can tell that this group has a real love for their craft and when I say that I don't just mean playing their instruments or singing. I mean writing songs together. Songs that have an impact, you can dance to, you can sing along with, and a lot of them have hooks that end up bouncing around in your brain for hours after the songs have ended.
Not just vocal hooks, but musical hooks as well, which is something I've missed in all kinds of music for a long time.
This was quite an impressive and sonically pleasurable record with songwriting that lets the tracks groove, plenty of honesty, loads of swagger, and it's all rolled up into one giant piece of work.
Those who love country, classic rock, southern rock, Blues, and more will all love this record.
Again, I suggest checking this out and listening all the way through because it's got a lot to offer, and don't be afraid to turn it up.
You can certainly sing along with a lot of these tracks after the first couple of lessons. That is of course if you can hit those notes.
Either way, check this out and remember where you heard it first.
