A new compilation album of amazingly performed cover songs has just been released from Audio Mirage Studios and the level of eclectic and intense approaches that these various artists give on the record is outstanding along with their ability to stay true to the original songwriter and track that inspired them in the first place.
The compilation album is dubbed Music That Changed My Life and rightfully so because you can clearly tell that these artists give a lot of themselves in the performances of these cover songs which are, by the way, all across the board and done with a lot of heart and personality.
I myself was astounded at the level of diversity and influences that some of these artists pulled in and the choices of songs that they pulled off.
You have everything on this record from covers of Sound Garden's "Pretty Noose" which was done with an amazing energy and vigor that gave the song an even fuller tonality and a little bit of an edgier underbelly but still with the same sort of color and approach. This track was performed by Bigbaldben.
Other incredibly notable releases on this record include "Anything You Want" originally by indie pop and rock artist Spoon and performed here by Brian Lambert.
Brian's rendition of this track was damn near perfect, and he did an amazing job utilizing the right kind of key and synth tones to really push the song and still again, hold it true to its original tonality.
We also have a cover of "Place to Be" originally by Nick Drake of course, which is performed here by Prime Birds and this one was done so well that it feels almost like it was a live Nick Drake performance. I love this one because it felt so warm and like an absolute ode to Nick which of course it was.
Among many others are covers of Nerf Herder, Nirvana, Stewart Copeland, Jimmy Eat World, Cheap Trick, and more.
So, you get the idea that a lot of these bands and artists were influenced by these particular decades of music including a lot from the '90s. There is even a Concrete Blonde cover by Blue Dirt Girl.
But some of them go further back and some of them stay more recent. For example, there is a cover of California Dreamin' by The Mamas and The Papas that's performed by Scoopski on the record and really crushed this.
The bass tone alone on this rendition is something to die for.
We also have covers of heavier stuff like Rise Against, along with songs like "Boy in the Bubble" originally by Paul Simon and performed on the record by Marc Schuster.
So, you can see that the range is wide and with such an array of choices there's more than a handful of songs for literally everyone on this record.
You can't help but fall in love with an album that's composed of outstanding artists performing songs that you can tell our love letters to the artists and bands that inspired them.
There's just something special about it and this is the perfect example of exactly that.
Each of the artists on the record are individually unique and have outstanding original releases via Audio Mirage Studios and are well worth checking out.
This compilation album of inspirational cover songs is one of the best ways to start.
Other artists on the record include Dragons and Astronauts, Fuzzruckus, Lavender Fire, Neither Could Dylan, Quizboy, Billy Lowery, TheFifthSister, Connor Dean, Voodoo Planet, Trench Gun, and Truck Dog & The Go people.
When you get a chance, check this record app all the way through because it's worth your time and more to dive right into this.
Do it with headphones on because it's the best way to listen to everything.
I think you'll be surprised at the range of covers on this thing and how well they're pulled off.
Remember where you heard it first.
