A Killer New Punk Rock EP from TeethOut

A brand-new EP from TeethOut brings on a flurry of what I would consider a cross between skate and pop-punk and it all comes together with a sucker punch to the gut which I mean in the best way possible of course.

The Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is EP wastes no time hitting with anthemic punk drive, thrashy atmospheres, and a bright, melodic approach that brings together that perfect combination of color and edginess.

One of the things I love about this record is how it brings together different influences on one release. Yes, this is a punk rock record of course but if you're into punk then you'll know what I mean when I say this brings together elements of bands like Pennywise but also Brand New.

You get hints of alternative rock in there too because some of these sections are spread out more, with a little bit of a heavier feel riff-wise and that's something that also comes in and out as the record unfolds.

I do feel like anthemic is one of the best words to describe this release and it's most certainly something that's got a massive sonic drive but also is a bit pop coated. So, you have hooks and courses all over this thing that end up sticking in your brain and bouncing around in there for hours or even days after the songs have ended and the only way to satiate that is to go and listen to the record again.

These guys really hit it hard, and the energy is absolute perfection. It feels almost like this whole thing was recorded live on the floor to an extent and everyone in the band was just feeding off of each other's energy the entire time.

This gives the record a bit of a live performance aesthetic and power. The drumming is outstanding across the board. This guy not only keeps up but also brings a ton of drive to these songs that help them really push the envelope, so they get to where they need to be.

It's also one of the reasons the release feels alive and breathing in its own sense. It's always super in the pocket but adds liveliness and extra energy to things.

The guitar tone and riffs are thrashy, fun, melodic, and fast, so you get an exhilarating feeling and know that these guys love their craft. When I say that I don't just mean playing instruments or singing. I mean writing songs together and putting them out into the world because that's what they were meant to do.

I love hearing a band and immediately knowing that seeing them live would be awesome. It doesn't happen all the time but when you hear a record like this one and the kind of energy captured on it, you just know that these guys will be intense in a live performance setting.

Some of the songs on this release were dropped at the back end of 2024 leading up to this EP and I think this is the kind of release that you listen to it in full, from beginning to end.

In true punk format, the whole EP is only about 12 minutes long and you certainly have the time to listen to it in its entirety.

Vocally, this release crushes everything. The vocalist blends together those elements of different punk and alternative influences and delivers them a little bit differently with each track.

It's almost like the character changes a little bit with each new song that comes up. I love the range of approaches that he has because it showcases those influences and how they affected him as a musician and as a person.

Earlier, when I mentioned bands like Pennywise and Brand New, part of that was meant vocally as well. The first track on the record called "Lifeline" is a track that he just starts belting out with a bit of fierceness and fire and its underbelly and that along with the harmonies that he's doing really made me think of Brand New.

But again, he also brings little hints of bands like Rancid at times as well.

The entire band ends up fluctuating influences from song to song and this keeps the record super interesting, especially if you are a fan of punk rock.

This is an EP that didn't let up the entire time. There were a few surprises around the corners, and these songs were fists in the air, sing along out loud, and jump around the room-style tracks.

That first song is an amazing introduction to the record because it sort of prepares you for what's to come and serves as a bit of an intro.

Again, these songs are all a little bit different in terms of the punk influences but, there is a staple field throughout the record of course and I'll say it one last time, the whole thing is anthemic as hell.

Check this record out as soon as you can and don't be afraid to turn it nice and Loud because that's how it was meant to be listened to.

Don't forget where you heard it first.
