A Heavy-Handed New Single from Staytus

A single release from Staytus beckons elements of '90s underground, alternative pop with a broad display of intense and edgy production styles along with vast undertones that create an atmosphere for the song that feels cinematic, full-bodied, and packed with personality.

"68 Kill" is actually a pretty personal track but the lyrics are only one aspect of why you get drawn in. I do love how straightforward the lyrics can be at times but the production of this song and the way it's arranged is so impressive that you end up getting engulfed by the soundscape of everything that you're hearing as the song unfolds.

This track is put together with a series of layered textures and in doing so you end up having this vibe that wraps itself around you and keeps you right where it wants to.

The song delivers elements of  alternative, dream, theatrical, and intense pop but also blends in rock, industrial, and more and it's all rolled into this one track that is incredibly easy to get attached to.

The beginning of the track opens the door to the soiree of electronic heaviness that you were about to hear. The production lends a hand to focusing on the vocals and letting the song and music itself build up in intensity.

This is a track that does have fluctuation of intensities and it's when that full beat comes in that the song starts to become closed-fisted and you realize that this track is going to pack quite a punch.

That punch is indeed delivered and it feels like a sucker punch to the gut if you ask me. I mean that in the best possible way of course because this track has many production surprises around its corners.

The vocals, synths, beats, guitars, and everything else involved are all done with such attention to detail that it lets you get washed away with everything.

Although there is a lot of detail and precision in the production, arrangement, and composition of this track, it's that personality and character that you actually feel throughout its course.

It's kind of rare that you have a track deliver this level of edgy, attitude riddle, swagger but this one does so both musically and vocally.

There are sections of the song where the vocals themselves have this reverse effect on them and there's nothing dry about the song at all. Every element, instrument, and vocal has a little bit of wetness to it. There is always some kind of effect on the sound and tone so that the aesthetic of the track comes through powerfully.

There is also a pop coating at points of the song. Some parts of this track feel like a straight-up pop-rock single and it's amazing to me how this one track can bend and flex genres at such free will.

This is most definitely a song that is created and delivered with much fewer boundaries than what you may be used to.

It is an edgy, alternative pop single, but it is catchy and boasts the same level of color as it does angst.

Layers of decimated and distortion-filled tones come in and out as the song plays through and that dark, heavy energy and vibe is always there throughout the track.

There is a great level of aggression here and that's because of how personal the subject of the track is for the artist, which is another thing that you end up relating to and as I mentioned earlier, builds that character.

This was a song that pushed boundaries and had zero walls around it when I was created and this is part of why I feel it's so addictive.

Don't just take my word for it though, listen to this track with headphones on because this way you can soak in all of those layers of texture I was talking about.

This was awesome and make sure you check this out now.

Remember where you heard it first.
