A Hard Hitting but Soulful New Single from Embers In Umbra

A new single release from Embers in Umbra delivers a sonically driving alternative rock soundscape that's complete with edgy guitar tones, slamming drums, and these bountiful and soulful vocals that really add such a gorgeous layer to the song that everything comes in with this incredibly balanced level of intensity the entire time.

"Enemy Of Me" certainly boasts a great approach as the band captures this melodic and almost cinematically backed Style and it certainly has just as much color as it does edginess which is something that I adore about the song itself.

One of the things that really grabbed me about this track was the energy level because it's got a very particular feel to it almost like some of this or all of it was recorded live on the floor to an extent at all the players involved were just feeding off of each other the entire time giving the song very alive and breathing kind of feel.

There's also a sort of vastness in the song's underbelly which brings me back to the whole cinematic backbone thing. It does have an expansive feel underneath everything, but this track has a bit of a pop coating to it as well because that chorus is a very heavy-handed hook that sticks with you for hours after the song has ended and the only way to satiate that is to listen to it again.

Listening to the song certainly makes you want to go see them perform it live and feel that infectious energy in person.

The guitars are excellent and do perform a melodic style riff that sort of descends and gives the song a memorable riff and progression and the drums are performed perfectly because they're right in the pocket but they're alive as well, so it adds a lot of drive to the song.

The vocal performance is absolutely outstanding, and the front woman gives it her all with a lot of passion that comes with a bit of emotional drive it feels like.

This is another thing that I love about the track because there is always this upfront vocal but there are also these backing bits that come in vocally and add these little chunks of harmony to the front vocals and that is something that gives the song a bit of depth and layering.

You can hear the different influences that are infused within this track from classical alternative rock to pop rock, even a bit of punk rock, and a lot more that all get rolled into one song and it definitely delivers an impact.

I think it's that combination of influences along with the massive chorus and arrangement of the song with that unique sort of live energy that makes this song stand out and there are elements about it that even feel a bit nostalgic to me because I grew up listening to a lot of different alternative rock and this is a great refresher to some of those older songs that I loved growing up.

An absolute banger of a single, "Enemy of Mine" shows charisma, heart, character and personality, edginess, and an electric energy that makes everything completely infectious.

Dive into this track as soon as you can and don't be afraid to turn it up.

While you're at it, you should take a listen to the full-length album Phases which was released previously because it shows some different sides to the band's songwriting and character as well and it's more than worth your time.

Remember where you heard it first.
