A gorgeous new single from Rose Paradise gives off such a sweet and breezy tonality that it comes with a lush sort of character that you end up getting quite attached to by the end of the track and it's all in the form of a southern tone country soiree that does breed some honesty and a warm approach that reels you in.
"Set Wave" features such a beautiful array of instrumentation and really drives that classic country approach home with Stomps, claps, lap steel, guitars, and piano that give an almost classic saloon tone and sit as the main rhythm instrument of the track.
So much of this song feels like it's a homeland-style and welcoming track because that's the aesthetic that hits that hardest. Not just because of the music, although that's a major aspect of the warmth of the song of course, but because of the way the vocals are performed.
The vocals are sort of graceful in their tonality and they have an additional warmth almost like a tube amp would deliver because her approach is robust and full body but never over the top, so you get that welcoming feeling the entire time.
This song feels like a hug from a loved one or sitting down with a friend that you haven't seen for a long time. It just makes you feel good, and that feeling is infectious.
The track is of course, about waiting in the sea for a set wave to come along so you can surf it or ride it but there's more to it, I think. I think that that is almost like a metaphor for a bigger part of life.
There's also an outstanding energy on this track the entire way through almost as if the thing was recorded live-on-the-floor to an extent. It seems almost like all the players involved were feeding off each other's energies the entire time and that's why the song comes through so alive and breathing.
Of course, I wasn't there so I could be completely wrong about the whole live-on-the-floor aspect but, listening to the track definitely makes you want to go see this performed live in your face because you know it's going to exude this amazing color and vibrancy.
To be able to capture that kind of energy, color, charisma, and lush approach on record is no easy feat but it's done here with what seems to be the greatest of ease like it just comes naturally.
This is part of why the song has such a great tone but also such a smooth and forward moving flow to it that makes you want to get up and dance right along.
This is indeed a sing-along, dance-along, soiree type of song that is riddled with that beautiful character and personality but also has a brightness to it that wraps itself around you and keeps you right where it wants to.
Once this song gives you that feeling you never want it to end, and I find that to be alone.
The guitar work on this track is amazing and the classic country twang is strong and perfectly nailed in terms of that aesthetic which is something I find outstanding because it's got that cross of old-school country and new school as well.
I love tracks that are able to utilize a bunch of different influences to make it work and this track does exactly that.
This was a track that will not soon be forgotten and if you were a fan of classic country music, Americana, or just music that feels freeing and feels good, then this is 100% for you.
Take a deep dive into this one and see how it affects you. See how it makes you feel.
