A new single release from Dusker delivers a wild and rambunctious soiree of heavy rock in the form of, what I would call a crossover from classic punk, garage rock, and a little bit of math undertones simply because some of the time signatures across this track are outstanding and outside the box.
"Wait A Minute" doesn't waste much time when it comes to delivering a full impact raw energy that seems to be the staple feel for this track and really works wonders for it in terms of helping it push that envelope.
The guitar tones throughout the single are crazy. they are slightly gritty and sharp, but this also gives a little bit of homage to that classic punk rock undertone that the band portrays.
Listening to this track is sort of addictive in a strange way simply because it brings together several genres and creates something that has an attitude and a personality which is, in the end, something you end up getting attached to.
There's also this energy feed type of thing happening. It feels almost like this track was recorded live, so all the players involved were feeding off each other's energies the entire time and this is part of why the song has such a powerful and robust fierceness to it.
This is one of my favorite aspects of the track because it's one of the more infectious aspects of it. Yes, the riffs and time signatures are very cool throughout this song, and it takes you a second or two to get used to that. But once you do, it's so fun and quite danceable in its own way, but it's that electric energy that you end up feeding into and this is a huge element of why the song thrives the way it does.
As you listen through the track you also pick up on elements of post-hardcore and hints of its grungy aspects in there sonically, but this has its own flavor because it crosses all of these genres together and does it in a seamless fashion.
After listening to the record, you want to see these guys perform it live because if this kind of energy is captured so well on record, then seeing them live must be amazing.
I certainly love listening to a song and picking up on the fact that these guys must be an intense live band because those intensity levels shine through on the record.
There's also the factor of that again, sort of vintage tonality that they really nail aesthetically on this song. It makes me think of early 80s punk rock singles and bands that I grew up listening to and that vintage tone is used perfectly with this single because of their vivacious and robust impact and energy levels.
There's a lot about the track that feels almost scattered in a way. This is due to the rhythms, time signatures, and how the lyrics and vocals bounce off the guitars that bounce off of the drums. There are a lot of layers going on in this track but it all comes through with this blistering sucker punch to the gut style feel and so it works very well.
It's been quite a while since I've listened to a track that was this much fun and made me want to jump around the room.
I took a bit of a deep dive into the band's catalog on Spotify and came across quite a few outstanding releases including two EPs and a live release that is five songs in length which just solidifies my notion of how these guys melt your face in a live performance setting.
These guys are a band that you want to listen to, especially if you did indeed grow up with classic punk rock, or even post-punk, post-hardcore, thrashy garage music, or any of that stuff. Even that bit of mathy time signature approach was super well done because it wasn't over the top. It was there but not blown out. Everything about this is actually quite tastefully done in terms of bringing those different influences to the table.
This was a brutal track with a fire behind it and a bright fierceness that hit hard and certainly left its mark.
Check this track out and do it loud, because there's no other way to do it, and then go check out some of their other releases because it's well worth it especially if you love this kind of stuff.
Remember where you heard it first.
