A new single release from Bird Streets delivers a cross between a righteous and classic rock approach with plenty of swing, swagger, and a humorous rant that feels super fun, and it all comes through with loads of color and personality.
"On the Promenade" opens with more of a guitar and vocal style approach that feels like a live performance setting and the lyrics grab you right off the bat because after the first few lines you know this is going to be a good time.
The track opens up and really starts rocking out with a driving drum beat and still keeping this almost live performance aesthetic and energy.
It feels like a bunch of guys in a room feeding off of each other's energies the entire time. This lets the song feel almost alive and breathing.
That classic rock influence is strong here. There's even a saxophone going through the song which helps build that aesthetic well but it's really the kind of song you get up and dance to.
You can hear influences of rock music from several decades; the '50s and '60s through the '70s and even a little bit of '80s in there and it's all managed to come together for this one track.
It's a unique approach but feels so familiar and definitely comes through the vivaciousness that is infectious right from the start.
There are some blues-inspired elements here and I love the sentiment of the track. Certain lines just stick with me.
"everyone's your friend in New York City until you look them in the eye". One of my favorite lines in this song.
There are just certain parts of the record that stick with you and as someone who grew up in New York, I completely get a lot of the stuff he's saying here.
The guitar tone has a perfect drive to it but is not overdone and the vocals are animated and right in your face.
There are a lot of different aspects about this track that give it its drive.
This was a really good time, and that spirited and vibrant approach is something that grabs hold of you and takes you for a ride.
Again, this is very driving and forward moving and to me, felt almost theatrical in a sense.
This track has a way of putting you right there in the moment as if you are actually watching it being performed live in your face.
It's in the aesthetic and the tone of the track along with the performance.
This track will stick with me for sure and is one of the best songs to start your day with because it just sets a certain mood for you.
Again, I love how he combines these different decades of rock together and really makes something that swings and has a blast because that kind of spirited and colorful approach is something that stays with you long after the song ends.
Upon listening to this track, I checked out some previous releases and they're amazing. A track released just before this one called "Dear God" also boasts some of that staple classic rock vibe with organs and keys that keep a 60s feel alive.
There is also an album from 2023 called Lagoon that's an absolute must here because it's something that shows multiple sides of artistry and personality throughout its course.
Most certainly start with this single and work your way back through the catalog because there's a lot of fun to be had.
Some of these songs are more personal and others are more fun but there's always these layers to soak in and this amazing array of influences in rock is infused within the releases.
Take a deep dive into this and remember where you heard it first.
