A Character-Riddled Pop Release from Erica Jo

A new release from Erica Jo delivers a wild brand of honesty that comes through in youthful bouts of pop coated, radio friendly bangers and each one of them shows a little bit of a different side of Erica as a person and as an artist but it's really this character that they deliver that you end up getting attached to.

The lost my voice single features four songs starting with an alluring and sexy short intro giving you a little bit of her personality and is delivered with an awesome swagger that you end up really loving by the end of this track but that, is just the intro and the following three songs really show a lot more of what does release has to offer.

These songs are across of R&B and pop but it's very current and very fresh, crisp, and produced extremely well with a lot of attention to detail but also a lot of that personality shining through constantly so it's an addicting relief to start with.

I absolutely adore how she's able to blend this almost vintage '80s sort of pop with a very new and current feeling style as well because the songs have a lot of catchy and colorful attributes but also come through edgy a lot of the time and I think that combination it gives the record a certain kind of atmosphere that you end up falling right into.

There are a few surprises around the corners here and you can tell that this is where Erica is in her sweet spot. In the studio doing her thing creating songs that sound super fun to create and also giving these little pieces of herself along the way so that you do indeed get caught up in that character.

This is all super refreshing for me because I feel like certain kinds of pop these days have strayed and different areas which is no problem of course but I sort of miss that more straightforward, character driven pop style where you hear songs, and it makes you want to listen to more songs from that artist.

For me, Erica has really brought that back with this release.

The soundscape of the release is filled with expansive and vast sort of undertones that make certain tracks have a little dreamy underbelly at times along with driving beats and the way that the vocals are delivered is really key because they do have that edginess and she does show that personality, but they also have amazing melodies and loads of hooks that end up sticking in your head for hours after the tracks have ended.

The only way to satiate something like that is to go and listen to the songs again and this is exactly what good pop music is supposed to be like.

It's supposed to drive you back to the record again so that you listen to songs over and over because they become favorites.

Upon listening to this record, I took a little bit of a deep dive into Erica's back catalog and I'm glad that I did because there was also a release last year that was absolutely outstanding and all the tracks on that are total radio bangers as well but in different ways.

Erica Jo is now an artist that I'm definitely going to be paying a lot more attention to in the future because she gives songs that I want to hear over and over again and she does it with a certain kind of passion and freedom as well because these are songs that are built and released with fewer boundaries than the norm which I really enjoy.

They also don't stray super far from the pop formula that makes them catchy either, so those two elements brought together makes the productions really memorable and the hooks really loveable.

This was a killer release, and I would suggest listening to the whole thing as opposed to just one or two tracks because this way you can really soak in everything that the release actually has to offer.

Now, this release features songs that will be a part of an upcoming full EP called Renewal, set to be released later this year but as far as we expect, there will be more singles leading up to it.

Dive into this release as soon as you can and remember where you heard it first.
