6kitty Release a Fresh Single

An incredible new single release from 6kitty delivers a heavy but vast rock atmosphere that blends into other elements like post-punk, a little bit of garage rock, and more and, it's all rolled up into one track that has this sort of natural and forward-moving flow to it but, it also comes with this thick personality that you end up getting attached to throughout the track's unfolding.

"June" has an amazing build to it. It starts a little bit more subtle and that's where the post-punk feel is because the tone of the guitars and the twang of everything give that classic feel and post-punk aesthetic but it also reminds you a little bit of surf rock for all those same reasons.

As the song plays on it hits this sonically driving section that serves as the chorus and those parts of the song are explosive and remind me of not just alternative and pop-rock but a fuzz tone powerhouse of a soundscape that hits hard and comes through juicy because of that distortion used.

The cool thing about this track is that it's fully danceable and then hits these jump up in the air, headbanging, fist-in-the-air sing-along sections and I feel like the combination between those two things really makes this a perfect flow as I mentioned earlier.

Now, throughout this entire thing, you have this sort of underbelly of reverb effect on just about everything so it adds this vast undertone to the song which makes it feel super expansive even during those heavy parts.

It almost hits a sort of heavy shoegaze style at times but the cool thing about it is that it doesn't go too far one way or another. What I mean by that is, it's not fully pop rock, it's not fully garage rock, it's not fully grunge or surf rock, and it's not fully shoegaze. It's a combination of all these things balanced together perfectly along with that post-punk overtone I mentioned earlier.

The way they pulled this off was very unique but, I feel like it just comes to them naturally so they wouldn't look at it as anything too special I think.

Either way, it really helps the song feel like it's alive and breathing because of the calm before the storms and then the explosive sections and how it's all built together.

Aside from the arrangement and tones of this track crushing it, the vocals are outstanding simply because they have such a different kind of texture to the song and also make you think of classic female-fronted rock bands.

She follows the guitar line or vice versa, either way, you get that melody embedded in your brain for hours after the song has ended and the only way to satiate that is to listen to the song again.

What are the other things I adore about this track is the energy level of it all. It almost feels like this was recorded live on the floor to an extent and then everyone involved was feeding off of each other the entire time.

This of course adds to that alive and breathing feel of the track but I feel like the energy is completely electric throughout the whole thing.

Even if I'm wrong about the whole live on the floor aspect, which I damn well could be because of course, I wasn't there but listening to this track makes you want to go see them perform it live in your face simply because if the energy level is this well put out on record, then seeing them perform it live must be awesome.

This was a track that showed as much color as it did edginess, a bit of vivaciousness, and an incredibly natural but smart blending of rock genres that all came together naturally.

An absolutely killer track that speaks volumes for the band and as far as I can tell, "June" is just a glimpse of an album they will be releasing next month.

So, keep your eye out for that because if it's anything like this track then I'm going to be happy about it, and make sure you listen to this single.

When you do listen to it, be sure and turn it up or listening to it with headphones is even better.

Remember where you heard it first.
